Gooood morning RVA. I’ve been stuck at home the past few days with the flu, but am already thinking about what I’m going to do once I am fully revived. Where’s the best place for an espresso martini in the city?

I've never had an espresso martini, but I've put vodka in my coffee before. Same thing?

Just bring a bottle of vodka to a Starbucks and keep ordering espresso.

The Jasper? I know they're starting Miracle on Cary so it'll probably be a shitshow, but it's fun once you make it in!

Just hoping to have a good day, I'm having an early birthday celebration with my parents and then working tonight. Hopefully I'll get a nap in this afternoon.

Thank you! It’s my first time having the flu and it’s been pretty rough!

Woke up this morning with a 101 fever. It was gradually going up last night and I felt funky all day yesterday... but I thought it was allergies because of the congestion. I guess not so I'm gonna try and get someone to drop a covid test to me.

As far as espresso martinis go, wong Gonzales has a pumpkin spice one that's good

Edit/update: it's covid🫠

If you are Covid negative 🤞 and continue to feel bad, it might be worth getting tested for the flu (if you’re able) so you can have Theraflu. Also highly recommend getting gopuff or someone to deliver you with some type of muxinex product and decongestant to help with symptoms.

Hope you can rest and stay hydrated!

TL;DR I’ve become my mom.

I think you meant Tamiflu (prescription med that has to be taken within two days of getting the flu), not Theraflu (over-the-counter pain reliever, etc.).

Lol I usually had all sorts of cold medicine or allergy meds stocked as I get really bad allergies this time of year. I'm waiting for my covid test to be delivered right now, but driving is iffy with how my head feels. If I don't feel better by tomorrow I'm def going to try and get tested for the flu

GoPuff is a good option for having a COVID test no-contact dropped off. A spendy option, but a very useful one. Plus they have juice, what I always want with a fever.

I do love some juice. My covid test is about to be dropped off so I'll be able to rule that out shortly

this was me two weeks ago, it was the flu. luckily i got a test and took the anti-viral which helped immensely, hope you feel better soon!

Right now I'm in no condition to drive, but my friend said it sounded like flu. Going to covid test just in case and if I feel like I can drive later or tomorrow I'm going to flu test. My head just feels real funky and I can hardly keep my eyes open fully so driving probably isn't in the cards

I went to Cameo Cakery for the first time this past week and I really liked it. It's the first moist cupcake that the husband has eaten in RVA aside from Ukrop's which he thinks is too sweet. But this is relevant to your question because I also tried an espresso martini from there and I enjoyed it. To be honest, I'm not sure I've ever had an espresso martini before, (only a chocolate martini) so I don't have a discriminating palate. I think you should give them a shot though.

A good question. For a while we had a bunch of good cocktail places in town, but I can't think of what they are now. Maybe Grandstaff & Stein?

I've never had a bad cocktail at Grandstaff, so it could work

I can offer a good place for Chai - Sugar & Twine!

Got my extended family Thanksgiving dinner today, one of the few times each year I get to see all the uncles, aunts, cousins, siblings, and nephews. The nephews have to make sure I bring the Jackbox party pack.

I like to walk the dogs early in the morning. But not this morning, or the last couple. Under 30 degrees is just too damn cold for walking.

The dogs will have to wait for the afternoon.
