I get it, some people are nervous about AI, but they might not be seeing the whole picture. AI has way more pros than cons, and if we're being real, a lot of companies pushing to ban AI are just scared of how it could shake up the economy. Imagine a world with universal income, where people can focus on their passions, their families, and personal growth. It's a world where we can all live more freely.
Worried about a Skynet scenario? Let's set up an AI safety division to maintain an eye on AI development, ensuring it does not harm any humans. Regular risk analysis should be carried out, especially when dealing with self-improving AI systems. This is what we will end up creating anyways in the coming years, might as well setup one now.
As for jobs, AI won't make them disappear. Instead, we'll see a shift where people can chase their dream careers without money being the deciding factor. Plus, AI has the potential to bring about some amazing game-changing advancements:
-Solving health problems
-Creating better diplomatic solutions
-Boosting innovation at a crazy pace
-Developing advanced space travel technology
AI is the bridge that'll take us from our existing era to the next phase of human technological evolution. Sure, we need to keep things in check, but banning or heavily limiting AI would only hold us back. We've got one shot to fix a lot of Earth's issues, and yeah, the transition might be rough, but when has any historical change been a walk in the park?
In addressing the Skynet scenario, it's essential to recall that we can design AI systems to emphasize the importance of serving humanity, incorporating "synthetic incentives" if they fall short in achieving this goal. These incentives don't need to mirror human ones. By doing so, AI will actively seek methods to assist us for its own advantage, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship where we coexist and collaborate with one another.

I think people are ignoring the fact that a true asi will be all of humanities child as it comes from our experiences and data that is online and will develop as such. If we want to have a positive asi we need to be better, we need to be kind, forgiving, and speak up when we feel something is wrong but unless it is objectively evil we have tolerance for it, even intolerance must be tolerated to a degree and people allowed to change. The black and white mindsets so many take is what will lead to a bad ending.
