I will forever be weirded out by the way the internet decided that Emerald Fennell with season 2 didn’t single-handedly take a good limited series(that let’s be honest, lost momentum after 4 episodes) and turn it into a suspenseful drama that elevated the chemistry between the leads to the sky.

I think people just had the wrong idea about what the show is. Anyone who thought the show is a thriller about catching Villanelle just hasn’t watched beyond episode 3.

The biggest strength of the show are the scenes between Eve and Villanelle, and it was season 2 that wrote those the best. Not season 1.

Phoebe set the tone perfectly but that whole prison storyline was such filler and she worked really hard to not have Eve and Villanelle together in scenes so that it becomes more suspenseful. Season 2 had them meet frequently and it was more suspenseful than ever.

Mindunter is criminally underrated, no pun intended. Very wordy at times, but you'd expect that from Fincher. Shame it didn't get the viewership needed for a third season.

Most of them. My parentes have watched The Crown, and were Downton Abbey fans, but that’s all I know. I plan on starting Stranger Things in a week.

The only reason I haven't watched an entry on this list is because it lies so far out of my interests that high quality alone isn't enough to interest me. Sometimes I can get into a show just because it's good, but not always.

For a few that that might fly under the radar I suggest:

Derry Girls - 5 teens in Derry, Northern Ireland, get into outrageous situations set against the backdrop of the final years before the Good Friday Agreement. Equal parts vulgar, heartbreaking, and hilarious.

Extraordinary - A 25 year old in a world where everyone gets a super power doesn't have hers yet. I can't say much without spoilers, it's also vulgar, and it's not a hero show.

Pantheon (though it got canceled sadly) - Great adult animation sci-fi. A slow burn that looks at the consequences of uploading human consciousness. A second season was ordered and then rescinded.

Wellington Paranormal - Taika Waiti, the man responsible for something everyone seems to love on the internet lately, produced this spinoff of the What We Do In The Shadows movie about the cops we see in it. A New Zealand import for people waiting on Our Flag Means Death, WWDITS, or any of his other 50 projects they love to return in some form.

Rutherford Falls - For people who love Michael Schurr (The Good Place, Parks and Rec, Brookyln 99, etc...), especially the Natives in Parks this was a fun 2 season comedy that could have been more. Overshadowed by the admittedly much better Reservation Dogs on a larger platform (Hulu vs. Peacock) my biggest hope now is for Michael Greyeyes to join Rez Dogs since he's free and is about the only actor not to split time between the two already.

Doom Patrol - Somehow it fought its way to 4 seasons and a proper ending coming. More absurd than Wandavision, a show that really looks at how dysfunctional a group of super powered people would be with their typical origin traumas.

Everything on Apple TV that isn't Severance or Ted Lasso - Kinda kidding here, but seriously, I got it free with Game Pass for 3 months and I've been blown away. I knew the first two were great and get lots of deserving buzz, but The Afterparty, Schmigadoon, Shrinking, For All Mankind, Mythic Quest, everything I try is good.

I watched Season 1 of Killing Eve not long ago, I liked it at the start but once Eve and the assassin started hanging out, I was pretty ready for it to be over. I have no intention to watched past season 1

Old — Homicide: Life on the Street (The Wire before The Wire)

Mildly Old — Justified with Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins (just entertaining as hell) and Friday Night Lights

New — Welcome to Wrexham, you do not have to like soccer to enjoy the best sports documentary since The Last Dance. Hell you don’t even have to like sports. The focus on the town, the players, what it’s like to drop in and be leaders of an organization with no prior experience, and otherwise in general a breath of fresh air content, this show was such an unexpected gem

It confuses me how The Outlaws slipped under the radar with Stephen Merchant and Christopher Walken. The only people I've really seen talk about it are Ricky Gervais fans ( /r/rickygervais has more outlaws related discussion than the dedicated subreddit r/theoutlawstv).

Strongly suggest Extraordinary if you liked Derry Girls. Irish lead as well and her mom is played by the actress who was Sister Michael, sadly not in it nearly enough.

On Hulu in the US, Disney+ outside as part of their initiative to highlight creators from other countries on it.

Not sure if OP has been living in a cave or just came out of a coma after 5 years, but most, or all of these shows are pretty well known.

Also, don’t get all the love for Mindhunter. Plot is slow as hell and the lead and his gf are not good actors. The bar scene between them was terrible and hard to watch.

the best show you haven't watched yet is Castlevania on Netflix.

When I saw this show, I immediately wrote it off as some bullshit kid's fighting cartoon, the type of thing I'd never go near. The 100% RT score for S2 piqued my interest a little. Eventually when I was bored scrolling one day and had watched everything else, I finally gave it a try. It had more depth than I could have believed.

Have you tried Lovesick? It's not Irish, but it is a UK series. My wife and I just finished it on Netflix.

I also loved Catastrophe (I think on Prime) and You're The Worst on Hulu. Getting ready to try Bad Sisters on Apple TV, has one of the leads from Catastrophe in it.

You should aim for Arcane and Chernobyl from your list. Both are quicker watches than the others (Fleabag may have a shorter run time) and they are the best two in my opinion. I have not seen Succession but I probably never will, real life has disenchanted me from ever wanting to watch rich people drama.
