What have we learned today? When you're giving the banisters head, make sure you have the lubricant ready from the start.

Just be glad it was only family that saw..... my dumbass 4yr old self was dared to stick my head through the cookie hole at the grocery store and definitely got stuck in the glass hole..... my dad was so mad and the firefighters kept feeding me cookies to calm me down! Haha

thisusedyet t1_j2exghw wrote

Not the best idea... those firefighters may have just encouraged you to keep shoving your head through the jar, because 'hey, free cookies!' :P

shoulda-known-better t1_j2ey2ma wrote

Oh it was worse then that.... not a jar it was a circle cut out of the entire bakery display case (I was meant to reach in by hand) but I heard my brother say the magic words.... "do it you won't" and I definitely did..... it took about 4 hours for them to cut the glass out of the display then cut a chunk out so I was free!! (Might not have been that long but certfelt like it!!

OP what you experienced are intrusive thoughts. Normally people don’t act on them. Because they involve you doing something dumb or dangerous.

Most people never act on them, but in your case you actually planned around it. You dove head first into the void.

Those damn intrusive thoughts. I can't tell you how many things I've done and then been like "I'm so sorry. I don't know why I pushed you off of that. My brain just said I should and I didn't question it."

I've learned to say my intrusive thoughts out loud, that gives me a chance to hear them, out loud, and go, "WTF, that's crazy!" And I usually don't do the thing. Plus people often praise me for not doing the thing, which also reaffirms "good job, me, another disaster avoided thanks to my good will power!"

When I posted on NoStupidQuesions, I was pushing my face against the bars. After seeing all the responses saying, “don’t get EMS involved,” I wanted to prove them wrong. I wanted to show myself that I wouldn’t get stuck, so I squeezed my head through the bars…😬

This used to happen at the fence to my primary school all the time. You need to turn the person around, so their back is facing the floor, then they can get out as easily as they got in because their ears are the right way around.

20

[deleted] OP t1_j2e02x6 wrote

I tried this, I still couldn’t get out 😫

9

TattieMafia t1_j2edvtr wrote

No way!! That was the janitor's magic trick. Sometimes he used Vaseline, but mostly he just turned them around and sent them on their way. It must have happened often for him to have a technique. The kid would stay trapped and other pupils and teachers would hover around until the janitor turned up and instructed them.

9

[deleted] OP t1_j2eir0w wrote

I think it’s because I really forced my head in there. By the time I turned myself around my ears and head got a little swollen. You should have seen my face, very beat red.

TattieMafia t1_j2fg02j wrote

I bet the old jannie at my primary could have done it. He has those skills. Lucky you had people to help you or you might still be there.

I honestly didn’t think I would get stuck as badly as I did. I assumed it would be a little tight, which is why I brought the butter. I figured butter was good enough to get me out. When I buttered up and pull on the bars, you should have seen my face when my head still didn’t budge.

3

tteetth t1_j2ep623 wrote

2

mike117 t1_j2eq9bg wrote

To get out of this, you actually have to turn your body around on your back so your head can come out the same way it went in (facing forward).

If you try to pull back, the way the head/ears are shaped will indeed keep you stuck there, but if you got into it facing forward you’ll get out of it facing forward.

2

[deleted] OP t1_j2eqfn2 wrote

I tried this but still couldn’t get out. I think it’s because I had to squeeze my head in there in the first place.
