According to my google the darkest black we can see doesn't even have a name. Despite this, it has the ability to absorb 99.995% of light and has been used to cover a diamond worth 2 million dollars

According to the internet, I should be seeing Smart Healthy Age-Friendly Environments when I open my eyes in the dark.

Or a little shit.

Depends on if you ask google or Urban Dictionary.

Diamonds aren't actually worth 2m. What you do is you take a 1.8m insurance policy against it and you trade the policy with other speculators on how much you can sell the diamond for.

Art works similarly. It's a finite commodity and so you take our insurance policies and auction it off and then you can speculate on the value of the work since you can then lease it out for shows, or to people who have the money to rent art.

This fall I went on a trip to a cave and when we were at the deepest part the guide is like “wanna see true blackness for the first time in your life?” because no sunlight reached that far down. It was REALLY cool, felt like I was being enveloped in velvet. Probably would have freaked me out if it went on longer than a minute though.

That you can "see" a color that emits less light as being darker than the color you see when no light is actually emitted is fucky as hell

Is that the description for the pixelated vision?

To see it, I have to be in a very dark place for like 20 or 30 minutes.

It's very dim and not super obvious but it's there and it usually moves in waves across my vision.

Sometimes it starts in the center of my vision and moves out in a ring wave, sometimes it starts in a blob and moves around the center of my vision.

It only happens when my eyes are totally adapted to the dark so I always thought it was the visual pigments firing off randomly

I really only see it when I'm having trouble sleeping. I will try to focus on it and it often puts me to sleep.
