In Vermont they only live in the boreal forests of the Northeast Kingdom and high mountain summits.

This. As a hiker I've run into them on the trail. They linger at mountain summits where people stop for snacks. The birds will often snatch trail mix or your sandwich whether you offer it to them or not, they're bold and are colloquially known as camp robbers. Like blue jays, they stash food under tree bark for eating later.

Also known as the Camp Raider or Whiskey Jack.

What we have here is a real bad ass bird. Almost as bad ass as a Shrike )but not quite).

Love grey jays. The only place I’ve seen them is in the Northeast Kingdom and I was amazed at how curious and open with humans they are. You could almost fed them out of your hand.

Yes I live near Mollies Bog and Moose Bog. I take my Mom a lot to feed the birds.

My folks have always called this bird a goby, and they are supposedly so friendly they'll happily eat out of your hand. Great pic!
