Whenever people bring up these headlines, I remind people that many, many parents take their children to the hospital with literally any cough or fever. No shade because I know it's scary when your kiddo is sick but for most people who have RSV, it's just a cold. This is just the time of year when people get fevers and colds.

Those kids aren't admitted to the hospital without just cause. The concern is not that the ER is busy, but that the hospital rooms are full.

Sure, but we're also talking about "multiple hospitals" being three - one in DC, one in Fairfax and one in Baltimore. I am just saying that these articles come out every year when kiddos are getting sick and it does not mean that there is a crisis situation.

Feel free to post any evidence of "every year" whatever you seem to be completely confused about

Got it. So you're just bullshitting based on nothing. You fit right in!

LOL how many DC hospitals are cited in this article. That’s not homework because I KNOW you read it

For anyone following this hysterical person’s hissy fit, the answer is ONE hospital and their quote about it was pretty chill but this bozo is losing their mind over it

You the best! "Children’s National Hospital in Northwest D.C., as well as the children’s hospitals at Inova Fairfax in Northern Virginia and the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, which represent a total of more than 650 beds, are at capacity, physicians at the hospitals said this week."

Are you aware that Fairfax and Baltimore are not in DC. Do I need to walk you through this

jj9979 t1_it8sipk wrote

How many children's hospitals do you think are in the area? What do you think happens when "dc" is at capacity. Thanks for ramming home your incompetence so publicly

Pipes_of_Pan t1_it8t6iw wrote

…do you think that children are only allowed to go to children’s hospitals…? Do you think hospitals don’t prepare for flu season…?

Christ almighty. Lol. Thanks for this display. Good way to roll into the weekend. Hahahaha

Keep panicking, bozo

Only thing I'm remotely panicked about is how the us education system still produces absolute low level folks like yourself. Woooofh.

I don’t think there’s anything you’re not capable of panicking about

My 6 month old was admitted 2 weeks ago. Criteria for admission at Inova Fairfax was O2 sat less than 90% awake 88% sleeping. We had to stay 2 nights in the hospital on oxygen. So yes, she had a cold, but she was also hypoxic. I don't know that I'd have felt comfortable going home if her O2 sat was hanging out at 91. Also we started at the peds urgent care and took an ambulance to the ER so it's not like we jumped straight to ER.

Pipes_of_Pan t1_ita5kut wrote

Sure and I’m very glad you got care but 1) there was a bed for y’all at one of the hospitals mentioned in this article and 2) these headlines pop up every year around this time. Kids get sick in the fall! Hospitals prepare properly for this and the media sensationalizes the situation.

Who would even think of taking a kid with a cold to the hospital unless they were nearly dead when all you hear about is overflowing emergency rooms filled with sick people? I’d be extremely afraid to take anyone there let alone a kid.

I understand your perspective but I promise you that some parents take their kids to the hospital for literally anything. I myself have received a few ibuprofen-and-rest prescriptions. I just don't see hospitals being busy during cold and flu season as something to be panicking about.

Ahhh got it. You're just a fucking moron that doesn't understand the difference between "going to the hospital" vs being admitted to the fucking icu.
