They've done stupid stunts like this since the Cold War. They have also made extremely close and reckless maneuvers with their ships too.

They act like a bully, and there's only way to deal with a bully. Turkey shot down a Russian jet after having its airspace violated repeatedly. Lo and behold, they stop violating Turkey's airspace.

That's crazy close, I wonder if they had permission and then flew too close. I can't imagine air defense would let anything that close without it being approved.

From their (Russian) command, but absolutely not from the ships they overflew.

This is nothing new. They've been doing stuff like this since the beginning of the war. By design of course. They know the west can not risk being drawn into the conflict in Ukraine. Russia would be happy to have that happen because it would validate their claims the US and west are the true aggressors here.

They regularly doing it since 2010 if not earlier tbh, so far only country which opened fire after warnings was Turkey, russian “rip pilots, we will never forget, we will never forgive and we will revenge” durated around 8 days, after that everyone start pretending nothing happened lol

They’re not completely dumb. They know they can’t win and their positions are untenable. The faster they get forced out of Ukraine the better for them at this point. It just can’t be the “lesser” Ukrainians that do it. They want it to be the mighty NATO so they can play the victim card.

Actually they still are under illusion that they can win..

Quote: "It became clear: we lost the real war. People start thinking about how to live on, what place they would like to occupy in the future, what bet to make, what to play on. (On the one hand – ed.) there will be revanchist sentiments. On the other, there will be a request for normalisation and stabilisation."

More details: however, as Meduza states, the political bloc of the administration of the Russian President is more optimistic. In particular, according to one of the sources, the Kremlin still hopes that in the West, "the consensus in support of Ukraine will collapse" due to the need for cheap energy sources.

According to Meduza, the Kremlin's other hope is a sharp change in the political situation in Ukraine and the resignation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In addition, the Russian authorities believe that in a few months, the Russian army will become more combat-ready thanks to mobilisation and will turn the tide in the conflict zone.

Sure, the world is a smoldering ash heap, Vovochka, but for a brief moment in time, we drew the west into a conflict thereby successfully validating our claims that they are the true aggressor :D

Everh time something like this happens, it reminds me of this simulation where a russian jet was shot down by nato forces, and it devolved into ww3.

https://youtu.be/VWqWAi_H_9o

And that's why nato forces wouldn't strike first.

That's my understanding as well. I would have to imagine that Russia is on thin ice with this kind of shit though.

Because the previous 8 months have proven that anything by Russia will occur according to design xD

Probably none of the NATO warships had an unprofessional and unsafe missle lock on those two Russian turkeys.

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 52%. (I'm a bot)

> On the morning of Nov. 17, two Russian fighter aircraft made an unsafe and unprofessional approach toward Standing NATO Maritime Group 1, which was conducting routine operations in the Baltic Sea.

> NATO deemed the interaction unsafe and unprofessional since it was conducted in a known danger area, which was activated for air defence training, and due to the aircraft altitude and proximity.

> NATO will respond appropriately to any interference with NATO's lawful activity in the area that endangers the safety of our aircraft, ships or their crews.

Russia and China always conduct unsafe and unprofessional reactions to military aircraft in their declared but unrecognized airspace. International waters are 25 miles from shore but they don’t recognize that.

one of these days a russian plane will breakdown midflight while doing one of these flybys and NATO will have to rescue them.

Considering their tech it's quite possible for them to crash into a nato ship sooner or later.....

Sounds like russia testing natos boundaries like the missiles in poland.

You might want to read up on that story.

What happened to the story about the missile strike site's coordinates being a mixture of Kyiv and Lviv coordinates?

3

Frogmanwoman t1_ixa6fr2 wrote

Russia wasn't testing any boundaries (not that they don't usually). The missiles were Ukrainian air-defense missiles. It was an accident, but still the fault of the russians. As we were talking about the missiles that hit a Polish village killing two people.
