You can sleeve the cable in pvc pipe or something.

How about just use a 6x6 and add guy wires behind it? The 6x6 is more than enough for the vertical load, it’s the crazy cable tension that requires such a stout pole.

I wouldn’t use silicone as it isn’t too durable when exposed to scrubbing, rubbing, etc.
I would use something like OSI Quad in white and just cover the crack plus 1/2” all around and keep it like the thickness of a quarter.

You probably want a small gap between the tile and drywall, like 1/8”.

Drywall would also give you a better chance of surviving a house fire that starts in the garage.

Reply to Exterior GCFI outlet tripping. No moisture detected at the outlet. What diagnostic steps should I take before I change the outlet? by MartyAtThePoonTower
GFI outlets don’t trip based on moisture, they trip on a difference in the current between the line and neutral. The most likely cause is a bad bulb, or bad socket on the lights that is leaking current to ground and causing the trip. Obviously moisture can also cause current leaking to ground, but moisture is not a requirement to have “nuisance” tripping.

Even if all the paint is off the surface, you need to then sand down to virgin, uncontaminated wood to get a stain to take properly.

End the uncoupling membrane even with the drywall. If you are expecting the floor to be regularly very wet, you can roll waterproof membrane up the drywall a bit and stop short enough for the base molding to cover it, or use tile base molding over the membrane to make it actually waterproof.

I have combined the vacuum with a compressed air nozzle on the other end to supercharge the pull on PITA runs. Works great with masons line and then you can pull in a heftier string or the wire directly depending on the situation.

The solution is likely to replace the thermostat. Use caution as it is quite likely your thermostat works on line voltage, so there would be 240V present on the wires there.

Amen.
Prier makes a really nice hot and cold combined spigot. I have one. Any temperature water you want on your garden hose with all the ease of a normal spigot.

It’s a normal faucet, so likely something on the order of 10-32. Certainly smaller than 1/4”.

Reply to comment by drummerene in Can i use 3 in 1 brand all temp fluid to lubricate drill bits when drilling (steel?) hinges? by drummerene
In your position I would do it dry, but if I used lube, I would just wipe the hinges down really good with a rag or paper towel and call it good. If you are painting them or something then you need to clean them thoroughly, otherwise it doesn’t matter as long as it isn’t dripping off.

I was talking about sleeving the guy wires so kids don’t clothesline themselves so bad. On the 6x6 I think I would just run the cable through a drilled hole near top.
