No. The penalty is the same. If you get pulled over I would recommend being extra polite and apologetic. Do not play dumb! Tell them you can't afford the repairs yet. They will likely ask what it needs and tell them if you know. Be very pleasant.

Source: I used to play that game every year when inspection would run out. It's not a game you should play but I had been pulled over as many as 5 times in a couple months for no sticker without a ticket (it was never more than exhaust, tires, cracked windshield, etc.

My house was built in 2018. 1100 Sq/ft 2 bed and 2 bath with a daylight walkout basement with a glass slider.

We have one heat pump in our living area that aims almost directly down our main hall to the bedrooms and bathrooms. The bedrooms all have electric baseboard. We have no other heat. The basement is entirely unheated and the main floor is insulated from the basement. We have a heat pump hybrid water heater in the basement.

In the winter I let the heat pump run on its own until it starts to struggle to keep up at that point I start turning up the electric baseboard just until it kicks on (analog thermostats in each bedroom). I'll play with the thermostats until the average house temperature is a degree or 2 from the heat pump set temperature.

The highest electric bill I've had in 5 years is probably just under $400. Last month I used 36KW. Highest monthly usage in last 3 years was 42KW and that was January of 22.

The no heat in the basement is going to get corrected with a pellet stove I got for free from my father. It gets as low as the high 30's down there but I've had no issues so far.

Mountain division trail is a trail along train tracks that's public that you can walk. It starts in Standish and runs into Fryeburg I believe. Off of river road in Windham is a parking area next to the trail where a very short walk takes you over a railroad bridge. I'm 95% certain the tracks are decommissioned but it's state land and intended as a walking trail.

I tried cbd drops 2 times years ago that claimed there was no thc content. Got piss tested 2 weeks later at work and tested positive for thc. Fortunately my employer couldn't take action on positive thc testing due to changing state laws at the time.

If they won't show you why or how it failed then never stop pushing. If they seem shady keep asking questions. Especially if they won't say whether it passed or failed. Also remember that if you pay for an inspection in Maine and it fails they have to give you a list of the items that failed. You have 30 days to fix those items and you can bring it back to the same place and they have to waive the inspection fee to check the work was completed.

When I was dating my wife they tried the same thing to her.

Had windham location perform an inspection. They gave us a list. We had everything repaired on the list and brought it back within the month asking for a sticker. They said everything looked good....BUT there is this flex line going to a rear drum brake and that loop could be dangerous they proclaimed. This loop was about 3" in diameter. This was no where near kinked and it was exactly in this condition the first time they inspected it.

So now they want remove the line from where it connects to the drum so they can untwist the line and remove the loop. I said absolutely not. They insisted that it was a safety issue. I asked if it was a safety issue then why was it missed initially? I was then told different techs may catch different things. I asked who was preforming this inspection and they pointed the guy out. I said thats the same guy that did the first inspection.

Now a manager is involved and says its not safe but they will fix it and sticker the car at no charge for the day. I said as long as I don't pay for it and its stickered and fixed then fine. So I wait for an hour in their store before they come out with news. They now tell me that the casting where the flex line was threaded into broke when they tried to disassemble it. They said it was a $50 part to replace. I told the manager I wasn't paying. I told them before they tried taking it apart that I wasn't going to pay.

They tried to reason with me and say "it is an old part and it was going to break on whoever tried to take it apart next." I told them I understood that but they were the ones who insisted on fixing this "safety" issue that they "missed" in their initial inspection. I heavily insinuated that they were being predatory and another manager got involved and said they will take care of it no cost. He also apologized and offered me a free oil change next time.

After 4 hours at vip for them to re-inspect the car I finally left with a sticker and a bill of $0. Did I win? Fuck no but neither did they.

Especially when the road has hills. I've been behind traffic on a couple occasions where 1 car going too slow up a hill in the snow loses momentum and traction and causes an entire line of traffic to have to stop. This then compromises the safety of others in multiple ways.
