Nope, #41. And Vermont is #40. I wonder what causes the huge disparity between ME and the rest of northern New England, especially with the demographic similarities between the three states.

I'd say it's okay for your current standard of living, but it would be tough if you want to own a home or have a family in the future. I'd start making a 5-year plan to get yourself to where you want to be.

Also, you say you're in the golf industry, but that can be so many different things! Are you a golf course manager? A pro/instructor? Other?

I disagree with your top brewery assessment. The alchemist is good but it's overrated, and definitely NOT the best VT has to offer. And i think Heady Topper and Focal Banger taste extremely similar ๐Ÿคซ. I would pick Lawson's or Hill Farmstead any day of the week. And Fiddlehead! But I agree that VT microbreweries are better overall than ME microbreweries.

I work for MaineHealth (not at MMC) and I make $37.50 with 6 years experience. Nursing pay isn't great in Maine, but it's still better than most of the South. My base pay here is about the same as I was making in VT, but MaineHealth doesn't have a per diem differential, which used to be $10/hr for me โ˜น๏ธ. And I definitely miss being in a union.

Interesting thread.
