Nope, #41. And Vermont is #40. I wonder what causes the huge disparity between ME and the rest of northern New England, especially with the demographic similarities between the three states.

I had to drive through Steep Falls recently and the entire main street was covered in those yard signs with Pence's name either duct-taped over our scribbled out with a sharpie. Like 8 houses in a row.

I'd say it's okay for your current standard of living, but it would be tough if you want to own a home or have a family in the future. I'd start making a 5-year plan to get yourself to where you want to be.
Also, you say you're in the golf industry, but that can be so many different things! Are you a golf course manager? A pro/instructor? Other?

I really miss the time before identity politics. I never put political signs up or put political bumper stickers on my car for this reason.

20 years ago I lived in a conservative town and managed to get along well with my neighbors in large part due to the lack of signs. People didn't talk about politics all the time. Doing shit like putting up banners just alienates people and divides communities, I hate it.

I'm also in Gorham and I completely agree. They're definitely distracting, and I hate the amount of waste they produce!
And of course Andrew LaPlaca tried to file a complaint against Whitehead & McCallister for having 6 signs "out of compliance" ๐๐๐

Grew up in Charlotte, but lived in Jericho for the past 10 years. I just moved to Gorham, ME (Portland suburb).

Interesting. I'm a Vermonter living in Maine and I miss VT every day! Hearing about people from VT who grew to like it here brings me hope ๐

Cases aren't down, the current strain is extremely contagious, but it's much more mild. That said, I am back to masking and being careful because I'm pregnant, and therefore more susceptible to getting sick. And COVID can cause increase the risk of stillbirth or preterm labor โน๏ธ

I am also a Vermonter (but I currently live in Maine), and I miss maple creemees so much! Palmer Maple in Jericho used to be on my bike route and I'd go all the time.

Yes! Love that place. Waterbury punches above it's weight for food and drink.

El Cortijo isn't very good, but I do like their drinks. I used to like Agave but it's gone downhill. El Gato is overrated. VT isn't the best for Mexican food, unfortunately.
ApprehensiveDeer9530 t1_ir6hkaw wrote
I disagree with your top brewery assessment. The alchemist is good but it's overrated, and definitely NOT the best VT has to offer. And i think Heady Topper and Focal Banger taste extremely similar ๐คซ. I would pick Lawson's or Hill Farmstead any day of the week. And Fiddlehead! But I agree that VT microbreweries are better overall than ME microbreweries.

Reply to Nurses of Maine by Logical-Ad2288
I work for MaineHealth (not at MMC) and I make $37.50 with 6 years experience. Nursing pay isn't great in Maine, but it's still better than most of the South. My base pay here is about the same as I was making in VT, but MaineHealth doesn't have a per diem differential, which used to be $10/hr for me โน๏ธ. And I definitely miss being in a union.
Interesting thread.
