You're free to live to Holden where all the other cry babies about Worcester policies live.

Plenty of walks/hikes in the western side of the city.
We have a nationally ranked Frisbee golf course (and another one that's just kind there)
Redemption Rock serves coffee and other non-alcoholic beverages - you can go there and play board games.
Multiple museums in the city
Railers hockey
Pirates arena football
Braveheart baseball/woo sox
School Yahd up in Boylston (about a mile past O'Connors)
There's often stuff in the oval behind city hall (they used to do Shakespeare there in the summer)
Hanover theater
West Boylston cinema is great for a cheap movie night (limited showings though)
Wrestling at the white eagle on Thursdays (we have one of the largest wrestling scenes in the country, apparently)

Smokestack Urban BBQ. I mixed up the first word in their name.

No doubt. One of the bartenders from smokestack said that patrons would come down on game days and just eat in the park as it opened 2 hrs early before games.

I dont know if it's because of the ball park specifically, but between them, Smokestack, Bucks - they're all apparently closing the same weekend. I wonder if it's due to a landlord?

The Y around this region is great. If Worcester doesn't work, there's one on rt 20 towards the other side of Shrewsbury too and they have an amazing facility

If you're going to Marlborough, go to Lalo's instead.

Worcester has terrible transit infrastructure. Even for a car centric city, the car infrastructure is bad.
They just created a transit department for the city literally this past week or so, so who knows. Maybe it gets better.

It's a city. There's very little chance of 10 interrupted miles unless you leave the city limits. The only place it might be possible is if you run through a bunch of connected trails at the cascades, but even then that's a stretch.

Arrowhead Acres in Uxbridge.
They have a really big venue hall and an outdoor chapel if the weather is nice. The banquet hall holds something like 150-200 people. The thing we really liked about them was that they didn't care about the vendors - we could use whomever we wanted.
Our major vendors were:
- Arrowhead Acres (venue/ceremony)
- Arrowhead Acres liquor partner (can't remember who, but they're the only option)
- Ramu and the Crew (DJ - recommended to us by the venue. He was really awesome)
- All Fired Up BBQ and Clambakes (amazing food)
- Diane Rockwell made the wedding cake. We went to all the most popular bakeries around Worcester and she blew them all away. This was the cake she made us. Each tier was a different flavor, no extra cost for it. Those are sugar flowers. edit: It looks smaller in that picture than it actually was - it fed all of our guests and we took the top layer home.
Our photographer was someone my wife knew through a BNI group, I don't know who they were, but they also gave us a courtesy discount. Anyway, all in on everything from the dress and rings to the reception we spent about 15k. We could have spent closer to 13k, maybe less, but we had a lavish food spread.
The one thing I would say with Arrowhead Acres is to just make sure you're on top of the venue agreement. You have to pull permits for food on your own, which isn't hard but it's extra leg work (they gave us all the instructions we needed to do it). The owners don't fuck around and expect you to read and actually follow through on the agreement. They're an older, very no-nonsense couple but they were helpful. Just read your agreement thoroughly and make sure you give yourself time.
edit: Oh, also, if you're looking for rings, we went to Garabedians up on Burncoat. The old man there hammered out a custom wedding band for my wife out of a continuum silver ingot for like 100 bucks because the engagement ring we got had a unique shape and we needed something specific to fit it.

Reply to comment by Watchfull_Hosemaster in Do you think MA needs to build a commuter rail between Worcester and Fitchburg/Leominster? by HRJafael
> Maybe have a WRTA bus route between Union Station and the Fitchburg multi-modal station.
Nah. If the WRTA makes any changes, they should be cutting routes so that they're more condensed and focused on serving high frequency corridors in the city limits over sprawling geographies where ridership is lower. Get the city right first and immediate suburbs right first - high frequency service, rapid lanes, high traffic corridors.
The furthest out stops should be right now are places like Shrewsbury, Auburn, Cherry Valley, West Boylston, Holden, etc. Direct routes right into the city for commuters to have an option where they can avoid hopping on 290/190.
Once we actually get ridership and reliability established, then explore those connectors.

I pay 60/mo for 200 mpbs for just me and my wife. We've been on it for 2 years now and are past promos. So that's just what we pay. Where do you pay 80?
