I would take what people say here with a HUGE grain of salt given you're coming from Austin.
IMO a lot of people in this sub that have only lived in SWPA have very strong opinions on how certain aspects of the area are but they don't align with reality (like hiking/outdoor opportunities, how "bad" our traffic is, how "unaffordable" housing is, etc).
I don't think you'll find a "scene" even exists compared to what you're used to in Austin, but maybe someone with experience in both cities can chime in.

Honest question - what's the goal of these specific protests? The officers were fired and are being charged with murder (rightfully so). Isn't that the best justice people can seek? Or is this more of a general "sick of this shit" event?

So much stupidity in one comment, but I'll bite.
The US produced more natural gas in 2021 than any other year in history. 2022 is likely going to be the new record. Biden isn't slowing down natural gas production.
https://www.eia.gov/dnav/ng/hist/n9050us2a.htm
So how did Biden cause prices to rise? By something he said in a campaign speech, I don't know when? If it's as simple as "well he could just PUMP MORE", why didn't Trump pump more?
Putin-apologists are a strange bunch. Interesting comment history defending Russian soldiers too.

Reply to Pittsburgh tied for 4th youngest home buyers in the US on average at 38 years old by GarciaNovela
lol this is essentially just a list of average ages in a metro area with housing affordability mixed in since it's not looking at first time home buyers.
Many of the cities with the "youngest" buyers are extremely hot housing cities. Salt Lake, Austin, Denver, Nashville, etc.

pro-tip: Leave the last sentence of your post off next time. If you constantly have "terrible employers and co-workers", the common denominator there is you.
Maybe it's just bad luck, but no one is going to be excited about investing time into your apprenticeship if you don't actually give a shit about the work and are just there because you're pissed about another job.

So they aren't responsible for more attacks and deaths than other breeds? Why aren't all of the Golden Retrievers or Labs with "bad owners" killing people?

So you don't believe any of the statistics around dog bites, maulings, or killings?

>I have no idea why they get so much hate.
Because the company is funding Musk's Twitter takeover and he's using Twitter as a means to stoke the "Culture War". Example - tweeting about how he "owned the libs" by buying Twitter, saying he did it for "free speech" but bans whoever offends him, endorses Republicans, etc.
I've gone from a positive view of Tesla to a "would never buy" stance in ~2 years because I'm not willing to be associated with the Musk brand. I think there are a lot more interesting cars emerging in the space (iQ5, Polestar 2, EV6, etc) to the point where I genuinely have better alternatives.
To be clear I don't give a shit who the CEOs of these other companies donate to or what their politics are, I just care that they're not trying to actively trolling Americans on a regular basis and when someone sees my car they're not thinking "oh this guy probably loves what Musk stands for".

ITT: Pittsburghers convince themselves they have it really, really bad despite all the data saying otherwise.

This sub legitimately believes that lol.
Also we should be trying to get people to move to Pittsburgh, the city needs it.

This is a wildly off-base take of what you want to happen, not what will actually happen.
If the Strip can support half a dozen knock-off Steelers t-shirt shops, it can support a Chipotle.

Trump had the highest unemployment in the modern era and the biggest economic decline. He had to send out almost $1 trillion in stimulus because people were suffering so much, not to mention all the businesses that had to be bailed out or went under. Unemployment is lower under Biden than Trump. Wages are higher.
To say things were objectively better is frankly dumb. Trump can say "only because of COVID", Biden can say "only because of Russia", and they're both making a good argument. The US economy largely does what it does regardless of who is in the Oval Office. There's no real evidence to the contrary.

>If a business provides something I want at a fair price, that's good enough for me.
What if another business provides the same thing for the same price and isn't shoving its politics in your face?
This is on the business owners for making a political statement with their business.
>Tired of looking for new reasons to hate.
Who said anything about "hate"? The business owner wants to make a political statement, we are forced to react.
