5801 and Trace Brewing both have decent trivia nights. The Trace events are hosted by Radical Trivia, whose presentation style never fails to amuse.

Also look into what Iantellectual Marketing has going on - his events rotate between multiple venues (Black Lotus, Nico’s, Spill) in the East End.

Mixtape is gonna be open Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday until 12 pm according to their new hours (not counting Friday and Saturday because those are more of a "nightclub" vibe).

More of a bar (though it is "caffeine and cocktails") and probably not the best lighting/setup to do work, but you never know.

If you're not averse to the most fast-casual of fast-casual dining, pretty much everyone in Pittsburgh treats Primanti's ike a real institution.

I'm biased because I live real close to it, but if you're not too squeamish Center for Postnatural History is a treat. Further afield the curio shops in Allentown neighborhood are a real trip. There's also Randyland, Photo Antiquities, and your more fancy museums/cultural sites like the Warhol, Heinz, Carnegie Museum of Natural History etc.

You see people dressed literally all kinds of ways on any given night at Belvedere's.

A punk in a spiked leather jacket? Not out of place.

Someone dressed like an '80s yuppie played by peak-career Andy McCarthy? Not out of place.

A glam rock David Bowie cosplayer? Not out of place.

A goth in fishnets with wingtip eyeliner? Not out of place.

It's a very eclectic venue.

Have you heard of Skullfest? Mostly punk with a bit of metal, goth, noise, and electronica on some nights scattered across multiple venues. Caught the tail end of it last year and it was really solid.

Summer Recess is another decent, more eclectic and varied local festival - for the most recent the headliner was a solo industrial act and the rest included acoustic sets, jazz, and a drag-wrestling show.

Some venues to keep in mind for independent music: Cattivo, Brillobox, Mr Roboto Project, Black Forge, The Government Center, Spirit, The Rock Room. Check their respective events schedules and you’ll likely find something of interest to you.

Sheetz once asked me to take an online customer satisfaction survey that asked about this after I made a purchase there.

This was part of the questionaire and I absolutely tore into it. There is so much wrong and dystopian about them forcing their employees to smile and not only that but in a specific way that is meant to twist their employees' arms to rigid and draconian expectations.

Unfortunately I'm not sure anyone listened.
