I could be remembering this wrong, but I think the confusion was about whether they were being depth charged at all.

I think the US Navy was using small concussive charges that wouldn’t actually do any damage to try and signal them to surface, and the Soviets worried they were being attacked with actual depth charges.

Dude, a SCIF is just a room where you're allowed to store, view and discuss classified information. You're wildly overblowing these things, they aren't secret lairs (edit: typo). They're windowless rooms with a door that you can't kick in.

>The 6.5 trillion was more than the Pentagon’s entire budget that year by A LOT. If it is corruption then we have a serious leak in our budget.

And the first sentence here should be your clue that 6.5 trillion dollars didn't get spent on classified projects in a single year.

So I know they don’t have a salary cap in the PL the way they do with some American sports, but is the amount you’re allowed to spend on players capped to your actual club’s revenue? And the City was funneling in the sovereign money under the guise of club profits to circumvent that and build a better team?

Is that the gist?

It’s an hour too long, I don’t think I could even count the number of scenes that don’t move the story forward and it tries to sneak through the back door of the “look at how great we are in Hollywood” movie archetype by pretending it’s a cautionary tale, except what’s it’s really doing is glorifying the “sacrifices” actors make by being rich and famous. Miss me with all of that.

I think there's a fair point some cities have a very real, and weird obsession with the lifestyle/vibe/setting/whatever and that carries into media.

NY/LA have been like that forever. Boston has been coming on strong the past 25 years or so. It gets pretty tiring when a movie is as much about the LA-ness or NYC-ness of the setting as it is about whatever the movie is nominally about.

Also, there are a decent number of movies set in LA that are just Hollywood doing a circlejerk, inside baseball depiction of how great Hollywood is (even if they try to hide it). That's not necessarily LA's fault, it just happens to be big hub of where movies are made. Those movies would be insufferable if they were set in Toledo too.
