I had hopes for UK’s SABRE engine, but that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. And by the time it could be operational, rocket companies like SpaceX, might get to the point where they can carry individuals.

You can fit a DIY explosive device in a toy drone.

It’s super easy to make your own FPV drone without any engineering skills that won’t have an integrated No Fly Zone restriction.

LLVM made porting across architectures much easier than it ever was.

I doubt they RaspberryPi foundation will have match trouble porting their libs, and it’ll be relatively straightforward to maintain the same GPIO.
It’s a matter of resources and commitment. They have the resources, but the moment they even think of deviating from Broadcom, there will be not coming back from it. So, they have to be 100% in.

Until they switch to RISC-V that will continue to be the case. They main reason RPis are cheap is because they get a sweetheart deal from Broadcom.

It’s the natural course of action. The EU is the biggest economic bloc on the planet. Everyone wants a piece of it, and since they make it for Europe it makes sense to sell it as is for everything else.
The only thing that hasn’t stuck is GDPR, outside of the EU.

It’s not that simple. There are state interests at play and Netherland would probably not allow such a thing. The US managed to force the company from selling their latest machinery to China, though.

It depends. If the US somehow get access to ASML’s next gen machines, they they could get ahead.

It doesn’t really work that way, though. Power plants need to maintain a relatively steady load. Unless we are talking about peaker plants which tend to be gas powered, battery powered, or hydro-pump powered.

And with solar and to some degree wind, you have the added cost of energy storage. Still comes up ahead of any other power other than maybe nuclear (in some cases).

Greece can made a lot of dams at a relative low cost because of its terrain. Unfortunately, we don’t have that many. The islands could use them more than any other place for water storage and energy storage.

Interesting. I wonder if they can just land it on pretty much any leveled area, or if they need a special landing area.
