Gonna be downvoted to hell, but whatever.

Adams is actually pretty good, though. I would've preferred Garcia, but FOH about having some Squad-adjacent Mayor like Wiley or that clown Yang.

In any event, if DSA/leftists didn't want Adams as Mayor, they shouldn't have spoiled their ballots after Wiley was eliminated, as 75,000 (or ~30%) of Wiley voters did. They could have ranked Garcia 2nd, who isn't a DSA-type but certainly more liberal than Adams.

But nope, DSA/leftists shooting themselves in the foot as always.

Illinoisans thought JB Pritzker would be some conservadem because he's a billionaire, and he's been the most progressive Governor in history of that state, as far as I'm aware.

Not that people can't betray their past ideals, but I don't think this is that much of a problem. Rhynhart needs support from Black voters. Does Mayor Street still hold sway with them? I guess more than I thought.

Definitely get a foldable shopping cart, aka a "granny cart". IMO it's essential for any grocery shopping within the city if you are walking or taking the bus to the store. Also, get some zipper reusable shopping bags, I use a few canvas bags and also Rachel Ray zipper bags with lining for cold items.

With the above, you can still get enough volume for weekly grocery store runs, that's what I've always done.

If you're willing to walk 15-20 minutes, I recommend Fitler Square or the northern part of Graduate Hospital. I lived in Fitler Square for 6 years, and reverse commuted to work via SEPTA for 3 years. It was a 15 minutes walk from exiting my apartment front door to the SEPTA platform.

Reminds me of the over 800 comment thread on Dishonest Honest Tom's going vegan 4+ years ago. It got brigaded by vegan subs lmao. Lo and behold, it didn't even last one year, and the new owners (who were cooks) immediately went back to serving meat, and as far as I know still exists today and is doing well.

Fuck "Honest" Tom, fucking woo new age "alkaline diet" dickhead.

Unpopular opinion alert, but I think state legislature salaries should be quite high because I think it would encourage and allow for people from the working and middle class to run and be elected.

Yes, it costs hundreds of thousands if not millions for campaigns in a state as big as NY, so that's already limiting. But if you only make like $40,000 as a State Assemblyperson, you have to hold a main job and you won't have the time to fully dedicate yourself to either.

If you make salaries high enough to allow actual common folk to consider running and be elected, but not so high that it's legit grifting on the taxpayer dime, I think that would be a good balance for more effective representation. And yes, there will always be corrupt people in government because power corrupts. But I bet you it would be less if Assemblypeople got paid like $200,000 per year and just fully dedicated themselves to serving their constituents.

Hell to the fuck yeah! Yes, I don't live in Philly anymore, but I lived there for 12 years and had seen Nutter do a pretty damn good job, only for progress to be reversed under Kenney and also Krasner.

Just contributed to Rhynhart's campaign. Not only do I fully support Rhynhart on her own merits, but Philly has got to do anything to keep Helen Gym or Darrell Clarke out of the Mayor's seat.
