Musk quit paying for rent in the building Twitter's office is located at because he knows he won't face any repercussions from it. The guy who owned these businesses fancied himself a rich genius, so the joke is he probably thought he was going to get away with not paying rent too

$$$$$$

If I could move I would do it. But I would need 3 months rent up front, a new job, a safety deposit on rent, money to rent a truck, time to pack and fill that truck, manpower to move the things into and out of the truck, and plenty more I'm forgetting

And I don't have kids. If I did then I would also need to find a good school district, do that paperwork, and have a million more things that cost money to cover

I'm a big General chicken fan and have particular tastes about it

The best one I used to get in town was from Mimi's Hong Kong Inn on Battlefield near the Hy-vee. It was dirt cheap and so good. Unfortunately the business changed hands and the place is now Golden Cuisine. I say unfortunately but that's not quite accurate. Golden Cuisine is still pretty darn good and I get it from time to time, but it's not quite like it used to be. It's still probably my favorite place for General, but instead of being an 11 out of 10 it's an 8 out of 10. Still worth a try

In Nixa is a place called Cashew Inn, Cashew Out. They are right off of Campbell near Big Whiskeys. Their General Chicken is really distinct and I love to get it once every like 4 months. It's not the best stuff in the world, but like I said it is very distinct and if you haven't found General chicken anywhere else I'd recommend giving it a shot there just to see what you think. Although fair warning it might be utter trash for you because again, very different. Oh and don't get the wontons there. They are basically egg rolls in wonton wrappers which are fine, but not really want I want when I crave fried wontons

The place on Battlefield in the gas station in front of Buffalo Wild Wings is also a very solid General chicken. I don't think it's mindblowing or anything but it's solid to get if you're in the area

Finally not necessarily General chicken related I will always recommend China King on Republic Road. The people there are super awesome and I love supporting them. The only problem is I think their 'Springfield Chinese' dishes are very mediocre. I would never order General Chicken there because it's just not great. Where they shine are the more 'authentic' Asian cuisine dishes. Think Mei fun, stir fry, stuff like that. I am starting to salivate right now just thinking about their Hunan chicken (well, I get chicken and broccoli with Hunan sauce added. It's my all-time favorite stir fry dish). Give them a shot some day

Oh and I used to really like CreAsian. My girlfriend and I would go there like once a week for lunch when we first started dating. But when the pandemic hit in 2020 they changed some stuff and the last 2-3 times I went I was not very pleased with what I got. I should and will give them another shot but I'm talking it went from 9/10 to 4/10

As a sitting Senator that had already decided to retire it was a way for the establishment Republicans in the Senate gain favor. They knew it was likely to pass anyway, and his vote was so that they can now have favor from the Democrats in another vote

If later on Blunt was trying to get reelected for the position then during the primaries his opponents could use it to try and sway the batshit crazy lunatics who actually vote in primaries to vote for them instead

Long story short he didn't vote for it because he's suddenly had a change of heart, it was merely him playing the game for his asshole Republican buddies

Unfortunately he didn't get hit by a passing plane when dedicating the thing, so he's likely going to go become an even wealthier 'consultant' or lobbyist

Thai Express isn't even that good. There are plenty of local joints owned by local people that don't pay into a large chain's pockets. Go to those places instead

Edit: Apparently I was thinking of Evangel. I evidently know nothing about Drury after living here for most of my adult life

The college athletic scene is pretty weak around here. I remember when I was a kid the Lady Bears women's college basketball team was a decent draw thanks to a local legend, but I haven't heard much about them in probably 10 years. MSU doesn't get much in the way of support outside of student families, and they are the 'large' college of the area

I believe Drury gets a fairly staunch set of supporters thanks to being a religious college (who would have guessed religious followers were fanatical?) which I suppose is good for the athletics, but from an educational standpoint I don't think anyone who holds a degree from Drury is held in super high regard. Especially in any of the sciences considering, again, the religious ties

I would say personally if a middle manager somewhere told me they got their degree from Drury I wouldn't be shocked. But if someone who was an expert in their field told me that I would be quite surprised

Missouri did legalize it and it's starting tomorrow

But fair warning, the medical weed stuff only started a few years ago and was a disaster thanks to the insane corruption of the politicians in the state monopolizing growers, and it's only going to get worse as far as getting stuff since more people will be going after it. In a few years perhaps it will sort itself out but not likely considering how rock hard this state is for electing people solely because of an (R) being next to their name

Springfield and Missouri in general are a bit behind the times compared to most larger metropolitan areas, and while poverty has certainly been around it is getting significantly worse and the homeless population is getting bigger and bigger while no one does anything about it here

The reason it's getting worse is partially because rent and cost of living are increasing quickly. The old saying used to be that Springfield was a good place to be because the cost of living is so low. The problem is wages are barely improving and that whole 'rent being cheaper' thing is going out the window. Talk to just about anyone who rents around here and they'll tell you how much the rates have gone up

Is it as bad as downtown Seattle? Not likely. There simply aren't that many people here compared to there but it isn't far off from getting there

Ah yes a new chain. Precisely what Springfield needs

Edit: Oh it's a tits restaurant. I love a good pair of any shape and size but I do not understand this kind of thing. The waitresses don't give a shit who you are and wouldn't bat an eye if after you left you were struck by a bolt of lightning and killed in the parking lot. In short- I don't know why you would go to any restaurant where the focus isn't the food. If I'm going to spend $50-100 going out to an expensive restaurant I want the food to be good and I want the waiter/waitress to leave me alone as much as possible

I don't know if it's the same anymore but I drove from Republic to Aurora for like 8 years and this was before they put those passing sections in. I would absolutely have loved to drive faster but the cops in every single little town from here to there LOVE to set up shop on 60 and pull people over. After I got a ticket doing like 6 over the limit (and yes, he enforced it and I had to go to court to plead and pay it) I resigned to my fate that even if there's no one out driving you have to be as slow as possible because those cops don't care
