Didn’t read all that but I feel you in that ego thing. People really underestimate the importance of receiving healthcare from someone who treats you like a human being. Have a feeling it does have huge impacts in outcome.
Not sure it’s a doc vs nurse thing though, just a human character thing. Not sure what we could do to preserve and encourage it. I don’t think higher pay is automatically the answer but maybe better staffing ratios

Most co-ops in nyc are just middle class housing. Laws might be put in place to prevent discrimination or change the vetting process but theyre not going away

Also, for all the hate that new construction receives, I’m very skeptical that something built in the 1920s can continue to be a better experience without a crazy amount of investment to upkeep. No matter how great a building is, after a 100 years, more and more things start to deteriorate
I could be wrong though

Are you a new entrant to this field or do you have marketable experience? Because if it’s the latter, I’d highly advise you to keep applying at private companies. Working for the city will kill your soul and is a huge trap unless you’re ready to throw in the towel and give up

2018/2019 feels so close yet so far. COVID did a weird warp thing to my sense of time

In other American cities, most women can drive back home after a late night. This is an impossible option for most New Yorkers

To play devil’s advocate, there’s a lot of mentally unstable people roaming the transit system and they’re much more likely to target women. A lot of women don’t want to take a long train ride at night after work+social events.

Tier 6 plan sucks. Can’t work from home. Office space is crumbling with roaches, equipment outdated, your coworkers are unmotivated uninspired incompetents collecting paychecks waiting for retirement. Why work for the city?
Pro: You can’t get fired.
Hmm.. That’s actually a huge pro in a recession
