We have a 12x12 horse stall with a 4Hx4Wx4L "sleep box" or "hen house" inside it, then a 4ft wide 20ft long fenced-in run for 11 hens. The stall/run can accommodate about 22 hens comfortably, but the "sleep box" could probably only handle 2-3 more birds before needing an addition.

Hi, I put a post in NewtoVermont a week or two ago asking why people decided to move to Vermont other than the beauty and recreation. There were a lot of really great pro/con answers go check it out: https://www.reddit.com/r/NewToVermont/comments/11fb53p/to_all_the_new_people_moving_to_vermonti_have/

People had some really wonderful things to say about Vermont and their stories were pretty touching of why they decided to come here. It honestly gave me another perspective of the state I live in and a better appreciation for it!

So after reading everyone's answers, I have to say the Vermonters and the newcomers are pretty aligned. If anyone has an interest in what the newcomers have said, definitely check out:

Some of their reasoning and life stories are really touching. It definitely gave me a deeper appreciation and a wider perspective.

It's Ironic because the incentive was to bring young people to Vermont but now we have a lot of "younger" people that have moved here but they are working remote for non-Vermont based companies. Now people are upset because everything is so short-staffed here, but where was the incentive to get the people running the state to stay? Now they can't afford homes, their pay hasn't increased in years and the cost of living is ridiculous, the people that are working for local places are working 2+ jobs, it's just not sustainable.

So ultimately the whole remote incentive plan kind of backfired.

I recently heard they ran out of funds because of the influx of remote workers moving here and applying for the incentive. They were also trying to figure out how to start funding for this program back up again. I have a feeling it has stalled since the state now has a housing shortage and probably other pressing issues to attend to.

Also a staffing shortage....which is ironic?

Unfortunately, this plan may be best suited in the summer or fall months. April is definitely one of the worst months here; that's why the majority of us try to go on vacation for April. Once the ski areas shut down for the season, restaurants typically will take a little break until warmer weather and things ramp up for the summer season. It's honestly just a really hard time to gauge here, mud, snow, rain repeat, bare trees, super cold nights. Unless are those the conditions you enjoy? idk I'm not trying to burst your bubble about April, I just want you to have the magical trip you are searching for but being realistic about the time of year.

I can promise you any month from June to October will give you the amazing trip you are searching for. Good luck with your planning! :)

My dad just got in a bad accident and had to be flown in to Mass General, as a Vermonter we were so scared everyone was going to be rude to us but I have to say everyone we have met in Boston has gone above and beyond with kindness. So I guess it goes full circle! I'm glad we are all able to have humanity and take care of each other when it's most needed! :)
