Usually the salt piles occur while they are trying to make sure the spreader is on/working before they drive off.

I live on a mountain near a park where they stage the truck before salting.

I often drive my own plow truck up there w/ a shovel in attempt to collect the “free” salt and put it in my salt spreader for my driveway.

I don’t think anyone would care if you do the same, as the employees will never be able to shovel it back into their giant dump trucks.

You should read the article you quoted. Sure green skies don’t always lead to a tornado per the article, but the article doesn’t 100% dismiss the phenomena either:

“However, thunderstorms that are large enough to produce a green sky, often are severe enough where they end up producing large hail and even tornadoes.”

In my rural polling place around 1,000-2,000 people vote in non-presidential elections.

There about a dozen volunteers that run the polling almost every time I have voted.

It is common for them to put my name to my face in that setting and say “oh I remember you”. At least in my experience.
