Probably? The teacher of whatever class we were in probably told us. It was in the years right after Columbine- an announcement went over the PA system saying “Mr Smith is in the building” or something and that meant we all had to go stand in the corner, behind the teachers desk.

We all knew it wasn’t going to work if there actually was a situation.

Knowing the exact day and time that every student in the school is going to be huddled in the corner of each classroom is an advantage if you are looking to inflict maximum damage. No one is roaming the halls, everyone in administration thinks it’s a drill, so if your goal is destruction… you’ve got sitting ducks.

And yeah, we had a free lunch program. But if you weren’t on it and just forgot your money or your lunch account didn’t have enough… tough! No lunch for you. Google “lunch debt”. It’s a real thing and schools do not care.

Columbine was 24 years ago. Over a thousand people have been injured in a school shooting since then, with hundreds dead.

We aren’t getting better at handling this because it’s apparently not a priority to any of our lawmakers - from Mayors, who in some towns ARE in charge of the police, to Federal legislators.

Ya’ll gotta vote this year and every year. Show up. Raise your concerns in a calm manner. We saw record voter turnout in 2020 and the President can’t do anything about this. In 2021 we went back down to a 22% voter turnout.

VOTE like your kids lives depend on it because they do.

Warning students or parents ahead of time would reveal the exact day and time that the drill is occurring… thus making it easier for a bad actor to act since everyone will be hiding behind the teachers desk/in the corner because 40 kids don’t exactly fit behind a desk. In most schools the classroom doors don’t lock, either.

What do you think happens during an active shooter drill in a public school?

We don’t give lunches to kids if they can’t pay- you think we have bunkers to hide in?

We’ve been practicing intruder & active shooter drills since Columbine. It’s not new.

The real question is- do the police practice responding to school shooters? I went to a high school with over 3,000 students in it. Absolutely massive building with multiple entrances and floors.

I have no faith that if the shooting was in the language pod that the police would know where that is. Football field, sure. Gym? Absolutely. Chemistry lab? Nope.

How is it any different than the active shooter drills kids have been doing monthly or quarterly since Columbine? What was that- 1998 or 1999?

Do the police practice responding to school shootings? If Uvalde is any indication, I’m gonna go with “no”.

How do you think teenagers feel when they’re listening to a sitting politician go on the news and say “we aren’t going to fix it. Criminals don’t follow laws. My kids are homeschooled.” Like the one from Tennessee did yesterday?

Kids are more likely to die from a gunshot than from anything else these days.

They live with this terror in the back of their mind 24/7.

“The policy is applicable to all County issued devices, including desktops, laptops, servers, tablets, cellular phones, or any other information processing asset— including any and all devices connected to the County of Lancaster network for the purpose of accessing County of Lancaster data or services.”

So that also means employees who use their personal phones to receive email during off hours or any employee who connects their phone to Wi-Fi.

If there’s two-factor authentication in place it’s virtually impossible not to use your cell phone.

I would expect them to provide cell phones to every employee who needs to use their phone for 2FA or access information outside of standard working hours.

Correct. The signers must be registered in the same party as presented on the petition- some candidates can cross file (like School Director) so they could be circulating a D petition and an R petition. Signers must also live in the district that the office represents. Using School Director as example, a person who lives outside the school district cannot sign.

I guess a better way to say it would be that you can sign a petition for a candidate you would be eligible to vote for in the Primary and as many candidates that you would be able to vote for in the Primary.

I’m saying she is no more or less qualified than some currently elected people who say things like “If it’s a legitimate [assault] the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”, while arguing that women don’t get pregnant by non consensual sex.

The Constitution sets three qualifications for service in the U.S. Senate: age (at least thirty years of age); U.S. citizenship (at least nine years); and residency in the state a senator represents at time of election.

She meets all of these qualifications.

Edited to add that today, an elected official proposed a bill to abolish the Department of Education at the end of the year. So I’m interested to hear what you think makes someone qualified to be a U.S. Senator, beyond what is outlined in the Constitution.

This isn’t the point, but you’re implying that all our electeds are qualified. Have you ever listened to them speak about how human reproduction occurs?

I don’t think Mrs. Fetterman has any interest; but as others have stated- Governor Shapiro is able to appoint whomever he chooses. Once a person accepts the nomination, a special election must occur within 2 years of the appointment. The nominated person can run, along with others. The winner of the special election would serve the remainder of the term. The special election doesn’t necessarily need to be separate from a regularly scheduled election cycle, but the office must be on the ballot within two years of the appointment.

Yes, you can tell just by voter turnout percentages. I was really hoping that all the attention elections were getting would help people understand that your local elections matter just as much, if not more, but instead we just got a buncha tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorists who just go deeper every time their theory is debunked.

In every election except for the 2020 General Election, and I guess the 2022 General Election in Arizona, the losing party has simply cried a river, built a bridge, and gotten over it.

No one ever seems to contest Primaries, even in States with Open Primaries.

Trump and Lake seem to be the only two that refuse to understand that their constituents chose someone else to lead.

They do ask for ID. When you register to vote, your ID is verified. Before every election, voter registration is verified against multiple databases and discrepancies are investigated.

Some voters either need to produce ID or complete an affidavit confirming that they are who they say they are and live where they say they live. This information is noted in the Poll Books and the poll workers - who are elected- are responsible for following the instructions in the book. So, if you think they are committing fraud, consider running for Inspector of Elections yourself and doing the job.

When voters apply for an absentee or mail in ballot they have to provide ID. If they don’t, or voter services can’t verify it, their ballot can’t be counted until it’s verified.

There are multiple reports that have to be reconciled before an election can be certified.

The idea of widespread fraud- whether being asserted by Dem, Reps, Greens or Jedi’s - is equally problematic without evidence.

SunOutrageous6098 t1_j85ocyr wrote

Someone needs to prove that there was fraud in the first place. We already have many safeguards in place to ensure it doesn’t happen and they work.

Widespread voter fraud did not happen. There is no effort “to ensure this doesn’t happen again” because the system is designed to ensure is doesn’t happen to begin with.

Cognitive dissonance. They’re being confronted with the fact that the majority of Americans did not think Trump was the greatest President ever and he- their idol- is telling them repeatedly that there was fraud. They’re being lead to believe that something they wanted was being taken away from them - and that message is repeated with every agenda item. Immigrants are taking your jobs. The Woke Agenda is taking your children. Big Toilet Paper caused the pandemic.

They’re eating a steady diet of anger, fear and outrage.

The party counting them? It’s a machine. It doesn’t have a party affiliation.

The machines are tested before they are used on Election Day and that testing is open to the public. Go watch it for yourself.

Then, after Election Day, the results are audited using two separate auditing methods to ensure the machines were working correctly & that votes are being awarded to candidates correctly.

Literally could not be more transparent. You just have to put in a modicum of effort and talk to the people who work in your county election office. They don’t want to go to jail and most don’t even care who wins.
