That's a well thought out and composed post. I agree with everything u said. Discussion is totally worth having cause it's cool to get another person's POV and see where they are coming from. I just hate it when the discourse is about shitting on another person's opinion or like u said forcing your views on others.

Cyclops in both X-Men timelines. I think Cyclops is an interesting character to dive into but it seems Bryan Singer had no interest in him as the lead character.

XMen Apocalypse should've focused on Cyclops. His own brother that he's pretty close to, dies. And they treat it like a small footnote in the film.

I can understand that.

I just got into watching Wes Anderson films starting with Isle of Dogs and worked my way back. And I enjoy every single one of them. Even The French Dispatch which had some mixed reviews even from Wes Anderson fanbase. But I think it was due to his choice to tell his story. Which was formatted in a way to make you believe you are watching each of the articles within the French Dispatch. Each of the short stories with their own interesting plots, characters, and message.

I agree, in terms of style. Most directors don't want to change up what has worked for them for so many years.

I think too many biopics tried to cover too much of a persons life. I think it's better to just narrow down to a specific period in their life. Or focus on a specific event.

Music biopics should look to a film like Rocketman for inspiration. They not only narrowed down the story. But making it a musical really made u feel what they were feeling at specific moments in their lives.

Then of course have good writing, acting, cinematography, and directing.

I disagree. While the first one is brisk. I love the subsequent sequels building of lore. The action scenes are more impressive. The Cinematography is definitely better. Most of the supporting characters are more interesting. Same thing With the villains.

My ranking is

  1. John Wick Part 2

  2. John Wick Part 4

  3. John Wick Part 3

  4. John Wick Part 1

I liked both Godzilla films. The Godzilla 2014 had a stronger story but lacked in the big monster fights. Which I didn't mind cause it made for some cool shots.

King of The Monsters on the other hand definitely had a weaker story. But goddamn were those monster fights amazing and visually stunning. Having KG emerge from the ice was a cool intro. Then burning Godzilla is a sight to behold.
