People need to start taking elections more seriously. I genuinely hate the people that voted for those "education Matters" candidates. They vote for a bigger budget, yet the schools continue to be shit.

Edit: I accidentally wrote “Change for Children” before when that was the good voting block. My bad.

Vote for Change for Children candidates for BOE. That’s all you need to know.

Really though- those 3 (you select 3 on the ballot) are against future tax increases and more transparency for how these funds get used (there’s currently no transparency). If the people who raised our taxes see that there are no consequences, then they’ll 100% do it again.

One of the Change for Children candidates did an AMA 2 weeks ago on this sub if you want to learn more. The guys name, no joke, is Alexander Hamilton.

The admin is bloated and the amount of money increased per student while performance hasn’t improved is all you need. Also the actual infrastructure is shit as the water fountains are spewing bad water so this hasn’t been spent wisely.

Finally, Change for Children wants to increase transparency for how this money is being spent since right now, taxpayers are being left in the dark.

Alexander Hamilton (that’s his real name) and his "Change for Children" running mates Doris Ervin and Kenny Reyes. He did an AMA on this sub last week. I’d recommend checking it out. They're for stopping the tax increases and, more importantly, increasing transparency so we can see how this money is actually getting spent. Taxes have been going up due to the BOE, yet the schools stay just as shitty.

I voted and the Change for Children candidates are all next to each other on the ballot. You select 3 and they're all next to each other.

I think what's more important than these 3 getting elected though is that the people who are increasing these taxes can't get reelected. They need to know that there are consequences for doing shit like this and if they get elected and see they'll never have any blowback, then you can be 100% sure the BOE will raise taxes again next year.

I lived in Park Slope, Bed Stuy, and Williamsburg and currently live near Hamilton Park. My answer is it depends entirely on your stage in life. If you’re young and single, BK is probably better. If you’re looking to settle down more then JC is 1,000x better. I’m married and 36 and love living in JC, but 10 years ago I would have found it difficult to meet people.

The BOE passed a ridiculous budget with absolutely no transparency, so everyone's property taxes (and as a result, rents) went up considerably. All of this and the JC schools are complete shit. It's just textbook corruption.

Noemi Velazquez is the only one running for reelection this year that voted for the increased budget, so she has to be voted out. She's running with 2 other people in a group called "Education Matters."

However, one of the members up for reelection this year that voted against the budget increase is a guy named Alexander Hamilton (I swear that's his real name). He's running with 2 other people, Doris Toni Ervin and Kenny Reyes, are running in a group called "Change for Children." This very unpopular and corrupt budget passed only 5-4, so if Hamilton, Ervin, and Reyes get put onto the BOE, we can at least be sure that taxes/rents won't go up again in 2023. However, if the corrupt ones continue to hold a majority on the BOE, then we can be sure there will be future increases since they wouldn't have faced any consequences.

In short, Alexander Hamilton, Doris Toni Ervin, and Kennys Reyes of Change for Children are for more transparency and against these unjustified budget increases. Remember those 3 names. That's who we vote for.

Hamilton replied to my comment a couple days ago saying that the 2 people he's running with, Ervin and Reyes, will vote as well to hold off on future BOE budget increases. I don't know how to post the link to the comment but it's in this post:
