Sikhs are a tiny minority of people from the Indian subcontinent. I don't think anyone really has a solution to the seemingly endless religious conflict that was seemingly made only worse by the partitioning of the country. If Muslims and Hindus can't get along, Sikhs are probably easy for both to hate, if they even think about them.
It's weird it's happening in the US though, I will admit that.

Reply to Her Choice: One exceptional student’s stand against UConn’s Covid policy by CTInsideInvestigator
The Yankee Institute sucks, but I think we can all agree it's time to move on from draconian Covid policies at all levels. It's been nearly three years, and every attempt at containment like this has failed - even truly draconian policies like in China. Covid is never going away, and the only thing we can hope for is herd immunity or better vaccines. I don't have the qualifications to say one way or the other.

Daggers are by definition double-edged. Push daggers are a special type of dagger with a horizontal hilt allowing the user to punch with it. Specifically, punch through ribs. Blades are typically short around 3". Knife fighting requires a lot of training, and can be dangerous. Push daggers however are more instinctive - everyone knows how to punch.
But a double-edged blade has been the rule for weapons since the bronze age. They maximize the utility of the blade to a variety of combat scenarios.
I was arrested for having a 3" push dagger in CT 20 years ago.

I don't think antitrust laws are the appropriate course of action. It's a public utility. It's not like we can have power lines going all over the place from different providers competing with each other...

The right to bear arms in Connecticut means concealed handguns only. Even a simple 3" push dagger is a felony at any age.

Well, live where you'd like. But don't rent for life. I don't know how old you are, but at 44, I wish I had settled down and bought something a lot sooner.

Buying in Norwalk today is much more expensive than Shelton or Stratford.

I still use Google often, but I wish Bing was better. It's getting there. I do hate Google the most, and I wish I could move away from it completely.

I put max 600 in. Maybe that's the threshold.
Kinda sketch that link you posted had no photos of the interior of the units.

This is run by Costar, so it's pretty reliable for apartment rents. There are two properties listed, and they appear to be age/income restricted.
The median rent is definitely well above $1,000 per month, perhaps more.

Maybe, but I really doubt it. I went to the University of Chicago in the late 1990s. My rent for a 1-bedroom back then in the ghetto (not right by campus) was $550.
I actually work in commercial real estate and own property. There may very well be apartments that cheap in areas where there are no jobs, but then there are no jobs.

I actually own two apartment buildings in Highland Park, Birmingham, Alabama. The rents are definitely not $600 in my 1960s buildings. Are you using Craigslist for your survey or something marginally legit like Costar?
But whatever. There is a national housing shortage. Maybe you should buy some of those properties?

I don't think you can rent an apartment for $600 anywhere in America.

I had to refresh my memory. $120 each way, 2 hours. Milford to Grand Central is 2 hours, though obviously cheaper.
$2,000 in Amtrak fare per month isn't an easy decision - for me, it's a business travel expense. It's also an easy choice as there is no need to stay overnight, saving on hotel costs.

Two days a week though means you can sleep on the train or work. I've done day business meetings to Boston often without it killing me. Not ideal, but it could be worse!

I would think the New Haven area would be ideal for the Acela Express. Boston isn't that much longer as there is less train traffic and the train operates at higher speeds between New Haven and Boston.

Auto repair places always do this. I'm doing the used car route now, but I leased new cars for years just to avoid those kinds of huge unexpected costs. But today things are different, at least for the moment.
It is shady, but they are all like this. Always have been. What's worse is it's not like they give you a 3-year 36,000 mile warranty.
How much is the car worth? I'd rather put $4,200 towards a used $10,000 car than repair one.

Reply to Moving to Watertown? by Original-Candidate-9
It's definitely a weird voting pattern I only just noticed recently on the state election results. It was pretty surprising as the area around Waterbury has become much more diverse than 30 years ago. The best theory I can come up with is the area is more Hispanic than other cities in the state, and the total failure of Waterbury to improve may be a factor. Hispanics vote Republican more often than people think, i.e. Texas and Florida. Could be a factor?
I'm sure you'll be fine though. Hopefully the state can figure out how to revitalize Waterbury, and the whole law and order voting impetus will not be a thing.
