If carbon neutrality is the aim, idk if that would be a good idea here. Solar panels can be extremely carbon-intensive to make, and in places like here where it is not always sunny, it is iffy whether or not solar panels would be a good carbon investment.

I am personally a fan of the nuclear idea, but I know I am very much in the minority for that view (though maybe not on Reddit idk)

As I said, there are some things that he says that are definitely a little iffy too, but at least in the videos I’ve watched of him, it seemed to come down mostly to poor phrasing, unlike the more blatant ill-intent of the Nick guy.

That said, I am open to being wrong if there is an example shown to me

Even his more “normal-ish” videos tend to be a little cringe with a bit of racism and classism in his humor.

If anyone likes that kind of video talking about different places without nearly as much cringe, I would recommend the YT channel: The World According to Briggs

He is still definitely an older gentleman who makes older gentleman gaffes occasionally, but at the very least he isn’t trying to be offensive on purpose

Also, increase opportunities for salary increases over time. Due to the school district just deciding to not play nice with the teacher’s union, my mom’s last 5-10 years of teaching was at the same rate, and about half of that was without an active contract.

But don’t worry. They had enough money for a brand new turfed up football stadium

To be fair, I did not know that there was a hospital that was itself called “Pennsylvania Hospital”, and I would assume that most Pennsylvanians outside of the Philly area would be similarly ignorant of that fact. That said, it is always good for journalists to learn when they are corrected on it, so that this mistake which may have confused the millions who are aware of the “Pennsylvania Hospital” will not repeat

If you like snacks and will visit Gettysburg, I’d visit nearby Hanover with their Utz chip factory tour and the Snyders, Renovah, and Utz outlet stores.

There’s tons of Amish and Mennonite stuff in Lancaster County, and especially if you are Christian I would highly recommend the Sights and Sounds Theater and watch one of their amazing performances (I say this as a non-Christian). (Btw Lancaster is pronounced “Lang-custer” here)

In Harrisburg, the National Civil War Museum is huge and great if you like history, and getting a tour of the state capital building is pretty neat too (beautiful architecture imo).

In Reading, they have a cool pagoda you can visit that overlooks the city. I am unfamiliar of other cool sites to see that are somewhat safe, but I am sure someone else can steer you in that direction.

Lebanon does have a history museum (Stoy Museum in the historical society) but it is nothing compared to Gettysburg or Harrisburg, and idk if there really is any other tourist draw to the county unfortunately.

In general though, as someone from between Annville and Ft Indiantown Gap originally, I would say your best bet to just find something cool to do as a tourist outside of Gettysburg would be in Lancaster County, as they have been a hot tourist destination for a while with a diverse amount of things to do, especially if you like learning about the plain folk groups.

I find taking the light rail to Lake Roland Park (Falls Creek Station) is a very nice and cheap trip. The Inner Harbor is nice to walk around too when its warm enough.

I say this as a new Towson student originally from out of state (PA)

In reading the article I found out that:

  1. It happened at a private school

  2. It happened in an Optional Class

  3. The kids had to get waivers to participate

  4. The kids themselves had the option to opt out

Honestly, I see this as the best possible scenario. If you don’t want your kids exposed to this, don’t send them to this specific private school, don’t let them take this class, and/or don’t sign the waiver. And even if you did want your kid to be in the class and they didn’t want to, they wouldn’t be forced to participate.

Given that many kids start finding pornography around 4th grade or earlier, it seems reasonable to provide explanations for what they see so that they don’t think that what they watch in porn is realistic.

You are actually making a very good case for government intervention here. As you are pointing out, in a totally free market system with an inherent monopoly (which GA positions often de facto become), it is 100% within the employer’s best interests to screw over the employee as much as they can.

But that is exactly why the government should be able to step in to even the power dynamics between employer and employee, especially during strikes, unionization, and contract negotiations.

Thank you for illustrating that point so vividly.

I was there the day they started covering things. (Someone chased me off the property). I think I remembered the road itself to being untouched other than there being just mounds of dirt or mulch or something brown like that being mounded several places. But it was a while ago, and my memory is not the greatest.

How dare she be against voting for a cis white gay man! /s

In all seriousness though, it is good to recognize the hurdles that different groups of people have to jump through to receive the same result. But automatically disqualifying someone because of unchangeable aspects that have little to no bearing on future job performance is just lazy and counterproductive to a positive socially progressive movement. Shame on them.
