Honestly, as someone who was once really into Top Gear… the show had started to run its course in the original trio’s later seasons. The show needs another, proper reboot, not just a new set of hosts.

Verona is in kind of a weird spot. There's the 195 bus that goes up Pompton Ave in Cedar Grove, there's a bunch of train stations in Montclair (and depending on where you are in Verona, the MSU park & ride may be a good option), but most of northwest Essex County (Verona, the Caldwells, Essex Fells, Fairfield), is kind of a transit desert without DeCamp.

When Reddit’s least-favorite show (The Big Bang Theory) had its finale a few years ago, I compared the numbers. TBBT ended with a number that, despite it being a finale and getting a higher-than-normal rating, even that would only have been enough to give it a 50/50 shot of cancellation in the 90s.

"How I Met Your Father" is in the same state. HIMYM was a hit, but it's first handful of episodes are pretty uneven, although it hits stride a little early, with "Okay Awesome" (S01E05); HIMYF didn't really nail its characters until episode 8 or 9 of its first season (totally normal for a sitcom, but a near-death-knell for a 10-episde first season).

> Ensemble shows always take time to get good. The first season is always going to be rough because ensemble shows rely on the friendships of the characters.
Sitcoms in general need 10-15 episodes to "find" their characters. Smaller show orders often translate that to a full season today, which is one of the big reasons I think the format has waned.

Isn’t Tehran someone else’s production, and Apple only has US distribution rights? That would make sense, since someone else is going to be making the final renewal/cancellation decision.

There’s a reason for that: Canada doesn’t want to have its unique cultural identity subsumed beneath the much stronger American view.
The problem is that some musicians (most ignobly, Nickelback) used those minimum requirements as leverage to get a ton of radio and TV play.

Plex does this, and they can contain different media types. I have a playlist that’s the full run of Twin Peaks (in release order, including the movie), and it should be possible to build your own for crossovers (eg: my “Millennium” playlist includes the series’ back door finale on The X-Files).

Bobby kills a guy on Twin Peaks. It’s mentioned once in the show and never mentioned again.
Strangely, the movie includes that scene.

They say it, and it’s brought up on the spin-off when Ted Danson’s character has a cameo.

The Murder of Roger Akroyd definitely has this issue.
Of course, it’s somewhat more acceptable in that novel specifically because >!(a) the narrator is the murderer and (b) it’s the only time she plays that particular card.!<

I don't know how much Showtime was involved in production, but it was moved to P+ for its first run, so it can't have done very good numbers for the cable channel.

I lived and worked in that area for a while -- there's a bunch of low-rise office complexes scattered about, especially along the I-287 corridor (Parsippany, Morristown, Bridgewater, Somerville). They're back offices for NYC-based businesses, IT departments for bigcorps (Verizon had multiple offices in that corridor when I worked for them), and lots of "professional" offices (doctors & lawyers). You'd also get the occasional interesting business -- NJ Rock Gym was in one of them at one point.

Netflix found value where nobody else thought to look (old shows that had either ended their syndication runs or never had syndication runs in the first place, and buying streaming rights from Starz) and turned it into a $125B business.
