They’re paying him 4 months severance. The public should have a right to know what led to that outcome.

Reply to Reinforcing wooden garage floor for vehicle by nalc
Does the floor show any signs of buckling or sag where the previous owner parked?
If not, I would probably just double down on the sheathing with a layer of 3/4” advantech flooring.
If it does, more sleepers and blocking between the 2x4s is probably the practical way to go.
It sounds as if nothing serious would happen in the event of a failure.

I think this is the correct answer. It comes down to cash flow. Bangor doesn’t have anywhere near as much to draw from.

For related reasons you should shovel all exterior doorways even if you don’t use them.

It’s not just the design. The steel nails are made from is stronger. Unless you’re using a structural screw. Those are very strong.

That depends on the strength of the fastener(s). Vertically, coarse thread screws. Horizontally, nails have the most sheer strength.

Reply to comment by DavidDunne in How would you finish these basement stairs (PHOTO in post)? by DavidDunne
You could. I would probably use a jigsaw and finish the cuts by hand. It really depends on how good you are with a saxzall.
You could possibly take them up, trim them, and reinstall them with screws and flooring glue. That would make them squeak free.

Chances are that installing hardwood treads in place of the existing ones will throw off the height of the first and last steps. You should measure the height of these two in relation to the finished floor on both ends and then make a decision.
I personally like to install my treads on top of sub floor dummy treads. Alternatively, you can trim back the existing treads and go on top of those with a hardwood tread cap. Just remember to add screws to the old treads to stop them from squeaking.

Reply to Looking to start Snowboarding.... What do I need to do/get/buy to make this dream a reality? by YahYah2424
I would recommend taking your winter gear to a resort and renting. Rent a board, boots, and helmet, and sign up for lessons.
Snowboarding is fun, but be prepared to fall down a lot on the first day. Most people find that the second day is when the fun begins.

Powered drywall sanders are extremely difficult to use on ceilings. They are heavy, awkward, messy, and exhausting.
Your best bet is probably a 9 inch round sanding pad on a pole. It takes some time but once you learn to let the sandpaper do the work it’s not too bad.

Reply to Uneven Plasterboard Installation - What would be the correct way to deal with this? by Scoobymenace
The best way to do it is to screw strapping perpendicular to the joists and shim all the strapping to the lowest joist. You then screw the drywall (plasterboard) to the strapping.
