DirectTV stream is the only streaming service that offers MASN. Otherwise you’ve got to get traditional Comcast or DirectTV. Or do something less than legal

They don’t have to. For about 50 years the American League had the DH rule, which allows a different guy to bat in the pitcher’s spot. Technically this is an option but until Ohtani it was an option that was literally always taken, because until Ohtani there hasn’t been a player who is world class at both pitching and hitting in over 100 years. The National League required the pitcher to bat.
As of a few years ago both leagues have the DH now.
MLB also recently implemented an “Ohtani rule” which basically allows the pitcher to DH for himself, meaning he can remain in the game as the DH once he is no longer pitching. Previously if he batted for himself, that would mean the team had chosen for the pitcher to bat instead of using a DH, which is a choice you can’t go back on, so he would have to be removed from the batting lineup once a new pitcher replaced him.

It actually made more sense for him to sign with an American League team, for the same reason. Using a DH in a game has always been optional (an option that, until Ohtani, teams basically took 100% of the time), so he could hit when he pitches in either league regardless.
But in the AL he could also DH when he wasn’t pitching, which he could not have done in the NL, he would have had to play the outfield on his off days.
He is by all accounts a pretty good outfielder but the general consensus was that playing outfield full time AND pitching every 5th day would have been too much of an injury risk.
So between the DH rule working in his favor, and the general preference that many Japanese players have to be on the West coast that I assume went into it too, he landed on the Angels.
As someone else said, both leagues have the DH now, but he had no way of knowing that at the time.
MLB also added an “Ohtani rule” a couple years ago that allows the starting pitcher to remain in the game as a DH once they have stopped pitching. It basically just allows a pitcher to DH for himself.
Previously once you chose to not use a DH, the DH was lost for the game, so Ohtani would have to stop hitting once he was no longer pitching. It’s a rule that basically only affects one guy and is pretty much only in place just to let everyone get what they want, which is to see that guy play more.

I mean he did lead the league with 36 passing touchdowns that season against only 6 interceptions, and was one of the best passers in the league by basically any metric.
Just looking at total yards is a little silly when they passed far less often than any other team because they were the best rushing offense in history, and he sat out the 4th quarter of about 6-7 games that year (including the full week 17 game) because of how badly they were blowing out their opponents.
I don’t necessarily disagree with your overall point about longevity but to say he wasn’t a highly successful passer in those years is just not true.

Weird take. If anything “can” is an understatement, baseball is substantially more popular in Japan than soccer and their WBC games will likely eclipse those numbers. Especially if they advance further into the tournament but quite possibly the early games too.
The Koshien baseball tournament attracts millions and millions of viewers in Japan, it’s basically their March Madness and Super Bowl rolled into one event.
That’s a yearly high school tournament; this a national team event that hasn’t happened in six years and for the first time features the best Japanese player the sport has ever seen.

Sure, but Denver is an outlier. I think Baltimore is a very typical city when it comes to breweries and interest in beer and it’s only getting better. DC has, like, 8 breweries. Baltimore has roughly 18ish depending on what exactly you consider to be a brewery. Plus I’d imagine we have more suburban breweries within 30 minutes or so of the city than a typical city, considering just how much affluent suburbs we have around here.

The city absolutely has the ability to support that many breweries (and off the top of my head is pretty close to that number if not exceeding it) but at this point they do at least need to have fairly good beer and be well-run.
We’re past the days of a brewery just needing to exist and being able to charge 7 bucks a pint for mediocre beer because of the novelty of them being a brewery. If you don’t have good beer, you’ve got to have good food, or a really unique location like Ministry, or something, because there are other breweries nearby now.
The brewery industry is going to become more like the restaurant industry where it’s competitive enough that it’s important to actually be good. The consensus (and my own opinion) was that Full Tilt just wasn’t very good.

It’s a particularly exploitable arbitrage because 1) they are pretty expensive, 2) people on Medicaid and other assistance programs can get them virtually for free, and 3) these same people are most likely to find themselves in financially desperate situations that cause them to feel forced to do things like illegally selling their prescription medical supplies for pennies on the dollar.

Many, many bars in the city have upstairs areas that you can use for events. Would be helpful to narrow this down to a specific neighborhood or type of place you’re looking for.

It’s a really cool spot. Beer is pretty solid - it’s not going to blow you away and it isn’t super creative but if you just want classic styles, especially German ones, they do them pretty well. The food is similar - unspectacular but solid. And the place itself is beautiful. They also have a nice beer garden area out back with a lot of seating for when the weather gets nice again. Overall it’s a great addition to that neighborhood.

Then you’re free to not go watch the World Cup at a brewery, but that doesn’t make your original comment any less odd.
We’re 3 years into this, it’s not a pandemic anymore, it’s never going away, vaccines are readily available, and it’s not sensible or realistic to expect people to just stop participating in social activities 3-4 months out of the year en masse for the rest of time, even if you personally don’t think it’s worth the risk.
It’s really unfortunate and kind of sad that your instinctive reaction to seeing a picture of people participating in a normal social activity and supporting a local business is still “oh my god these people are going to get sick”. It’s not May 2020 anymore.

The WG wings from Wiley’s are really good. Their “house” sauce is the standard Buffalo/BBQ hybrid type deal that for whatever reason seems to be the house sauce at like 3/4 of the bars that have one, but they do it better than most.

This may or may not be a good recommendation for you, and it doesn't help you right now since it is freezing, but disc golf is an extremely chill and welcoming sport and Druid Hill Park is a great place for a beginner to go try it out. It's basically just a nice walk through a park while occasionally stopping to throw a thing. It's very accessible for a new player...it's hard to be good at but unlike real golf it's not hard to get to a point where you don't completely suck. It's also free, other than the cost of a couple discs (and there's a decent chance someone would give you some old discs for free)
If you show up there pretty much anytime, I'm sure you'd be able to find a group that would take you under their wing and probably even let you borrow a few discs. Their big night is Thursday night, where a bunch of people show up and they have triples (they randomly assign people into groups of 3 based on skill level). I think they still do it in the winter but they start earlier and earlier because of sunlight.

If you’re worried about it, go to five iron in Little Italy / Fells. It usually ends up being a little cheaper than top golf, they have a decent bar, the simulators are really nice. Plus there are actually things for not golfing participants to do (couches at each simulator with nice TVs, ping pong tables, etc) Place is great.

There are links on the sidebar that have generic info on Baltimore and its neighborhoods but if you want better help from us you've got to give us a little more than this.
