My guess is he wasn't a licensed driver or maybe he didn't want to have to get insurance for a car.

Reply to comment by daymanahhhahhhhhh in Officer acquitted in off-duty shooting gets $123K in back pay by EmilyXoXo26
When I listened to a trial of a retired officer in Florida that shot a man in the movie theater and was acquitted with "stand your ground" laws, the officer/defendant took the stand and he spoke with an authority of a police officer on duty. I feel like he duped the jurors into thinking he was some kind of expert because he kept using cop lingo and they got lulled into some kind of "well he must know more about this stuff than I do" instead of looking at all the evidence. I think that's probably what happened here. But we also need to start jailing these psychopaths in blue that have a badge as a shield.

Pretty sure a confusing picture billboard isn't the best way to get a quick message across without distracting drivers but ok, Rhode Island.

This one is a name: Adi. I worked with Adi but grew up with Artie so that was a tough one every once in a while.

My bf just texted his daughter and was going to ask her to "put more dater" on his phone. He realized the mistake before he hit send at least.

I worked in the dining hall at a university. I guess one student came back the sunday morning at the end of spring break. I saw him sitting in the lobby at like 8am. I offered to let him sit inside and have some of the breakfast and subsequent lunch that was prepared for the crew before we opened at 5pm. I reminded him that there was limited options because we had a small staff getting restocked for the return of students and he was grateful. He just sat at a table and worked in his laptop. The one shift manager gave me a hard time for letting this one student in. Like give me a break.

Reply to Where do you uninsured folks go to get eye exams and glasses in RI? In a sudden need for new eyewear and can't afford to break the ban, especially when presents need to be bought still. by IamPlulax
The eye exam itself isn't too expensive IMO. Around $60 at VisionWorks and Walmart. Make sure they write your pupilary distance on the prescription. They try and weasel out of this so you have to ask for it. Take that to zenni.com and look at the clearance frames. They take about a week to get to you but are a lifesaver for low income ppl. You can even try on glasses at Walmart or wherever you go to get an idea of style before you order online.

Reply to They called my mother saying I was kidnapped and that they will kill me if she didn’t wire them money to Mexico. Please beware this happened to my aunt 3 months ago as well. They’re calling from Mexico and using fake local numbers. Unfortunately they did get my aunt for $1000 last time. by TotalDebate6050
One called an elderly client of mine claiming to be grandson and gotten into a car accident needed money. Smart old lady asked her "grandson" what she goes by (nana, grandma, that sort of thing). When he got it wrong she hung up. It still worried her terribly and contacted the police.

Reply to Boston college has a policy that employees' kids can attend for free, as long as they are accepted. This janitor has five kids, all of whom got in, saving nearly $700k in tuition. by ClnclyDprsd420
The college I work at has this. One woman put her triplets and a daughter through. $45k a year each. I only started there for this benefit. My son dropped out first semester when I was making$12/HR as a cook, now I'm a janitor making a little more. hoping my daughter goes but she's got ADHD and isn't a good full time student. She goes to CCRI and will probably do coding which you don't need a ton of college for anyway. Oh and my school also has hundreds ofsister schools all over the country so you can use your $45k towards tuition at any of those schools. One guy's son went to PC for $5k a year.

The only issue I have w the NRG is that they went on the news to complain that "nOboDy wAntS To wOrk anYmoRe" when the pandemic was receding last year. However, they do have a loyalty program that is some kind of profit sharing thing from what I heard from former employees. I'd also agree their food and service is great.

Mass has terrible fees too, don't kid yourself. My daughter got a bill for like $1.50 she didn't pay on time and it was $6. That was just one or two crossings and you did multiple without paying on time. it sucks but they also email me when I have a low balance.
