It's not irrational. Cameras, those "cross traffic warning" beeps, automatic highbeams you can "leave on", etc. all promote bad behavior when driving instead of being careful and aware of your surroundings.

Seriously, visibility out of these new vehicles is terrible. I used to think the Chrysler 300 had bad visibility, but it's like having bay windows around you compared to newer models.

Camden police told me to fuck off and stop wasting their time after they refused to do anything when I was in a hit and run. The response I got at the station was "well, your car's fine if you got here, and you're standing up, so you're not hurt. What do you want me to do about it?"

But if the messages are switched up (which they are in my area), especially with new reminders or wording, they'll keep people paying attention when shit hits the fan. I just tune out the "drive drunk, get arrested" shit. And i'm sure others are going to go back to ignoring those signs again.
