Got hit with a killer "sneak-up" flyover from a distant air show. We were at a pier on a beach looking at the air show going on miles away across the water. The planes would come out over the lake, but never closer than maybe a half-mile or so. Suddenly a jet comes from the land side of our view (behind us) and the sound blasted us all at once. Entire pier of people were jump-scared by that one.

I mean it's like putting a filter in front of any camera. The camera uses precision-ground glass, and when you slap a cheap plastic or glass protector on it that is nowhere near the optical precision of the factory glass, you're going to get problems.

And who trusts Google to stick with whatever implementation they come up with anyway? In a year it'll be "we're eliminating RCS support" or downsizing the team or rolling it into yet another messaging system. Google has shown that if you fall in love with any software they are a part of, they'll drop it eventually.

I hear this all the time, and agreed, most of us really don't care or even notice the issues they always seem to be talking about.
