Indeed it does. I get chills when I'm right next to it...scary and lifeless building (you know, windows and protective barriers up a couple of floors) with those strange looking antennaes.

Just wild that they are doing that these days when even a decade ago, they'd act like they didn't know there was a brothel a block from FBI HQ, three blocks from the White House and parts of Gallery Place Chinatown. It took anti-trafficking orgs pestering LEO to close them down.
To their credit, they always seem to show up quicker than DC MPD when shots fired or somebody hurt. Seemed to be the quickest first responder agency (shit, even DC and Federal Protective Services would show up before DC MPD).

Reply to Why are people stealing trash cans? by oagirl9339
Walk around and also pull up construction permits. Many cases of cheap/lazy contractors that don't want to pay or manage dumpsters. They steal cans, throw construction debris in there, then leave it out on the next block or so or just take it out of the area and dump it in an abandoned lot.
You need to have distinctive borings/paint on your can and also lock it up when not trash day and even direct cameras at it.

Let your ANC Commissioner know and maybe there's a pattern of same persons.

Where did I sign up for "The Passive Aggressive More You Know" PSA?
Look at you with your "mentor at-risk youth" coment and "TDY" like we are some missionaries (pss...we aren't supposed to use to those terms..stop dividing us!).
Ask not what Reddit can do for you, but what you can do to stop using othering phrases and blaming ...uh, others.

Never saw them spray it but maybe they are worried about getting cited or in trouble with people who hate scents.
Always quiet and never seen them speaking.

Reporters tweeted that he stopped being seen around town and tweeting around 3/11 and the Mayor was on calls with advisors that week, so likely before the bus.

It's DC doing whatever it can to promote itself (and also blow some revenues). I think OP thinking of this:

Some got PPP loans (even a few with inflated head counts/costs) and renegotiated rents with landlords.
Others might be in litigation. Other's simply DGAF as they have funds/financing to reopen when they want to.
Others own the property and simply don't care to and might sell their property when good and ready.

There were a lot more of that pre-covid ( https://www.embassyseries.org/ ) but they almost all shut down. Maybe the Diplomat newspaper.
Just go to embassies of interest's websites and see if they have a mailing list.

I don't even think they are pretty buidings and the open space is kinda average.
DC government and developers leave out benches because they don't want homeless sleeping on them.

Fake, expensive, vomit inducing place by Qatar.
To be frank, they stepped up to build that area when economy was cooling so there's that (might have been a parking lot till now).

The messed up thing is they don't respond fast enough, and sometimes car moves around and they say they couldn't find it.
Like you can give them coordinates and hope they get there within hours. They don't want you to tag along with your air tag tracker and won't take your phone even if you tell them to.

That is an issue, but there's also fault with Council and US Attorney's Office as well.

Those event companies are mostly a terrible way to get to know the embassy and you're paying for okay food. Sometimes awkward scene.
Best to subscribe to mailing lists and get to know embassy staff. They'll invite you to the better events, you'll meet their community and friends and almost always free.
Also their lobbyist entity/"Friends of the Embassy " and other affinity groups if they exist.
Passport DC/Embassy open house coming this May but likely long lines.

Google and will see articles as well as Council hearings on this fine mess. Council Members tippy-toed around Gambet cause they all know it was rigged and who's family/cronies benefited from a no-bid contract would lash back: Councilmember’s cousin listed as CEO of company for contract https://apnews.com/article/83e5a28771db42c490f49428947da4ed
Our government gets fleeced all the damn time, and often by those connected to corrupt officials. Even crazy shit like contractors owning DC data that has PII and financial records (contracting officials asleep at the wheel or corrupt). The Director Beth Bresnahan (sp?) resigned "for personal reasons"....nah....ya dun F'd up!
The wildest thing was seeing people line up outside Capital One Arena to bet in person, cause the app was just terrible.

Heh! I like the technology behind it, but that's one of the things that gives me the creeps. I don't know why....maybe cause it's like what we imagine villain forts are (not hating FBI at all, just the science fiction ominous villain fort look).
