Mao's still worshipped today and his status as the founder of modern China is still pretty much unassailable. The Gang of Four was toppled and the Cultural Revolution was rebuked but Mao is personally exonerated from all crimes. The official line on the Cultural Revolution is that it was a mistake but Mao was mislead by bad advisors and it's mostly his fault. He's a bit flawed but still ultimately a great man and worthy of admiration.
There's still the massive mausoleum for his preserved corpse. Mao's image is still very ubiquitous in China, he's on money and his portrait still hangs at Tiananmen. People still buy Mao memorabilia and the government still talks about him in a positive light.

True, and there are indeed Mao temples around China that attract worshippers.

She's in Ahsoka playing Hera Syndulla so she's still in the Star wars universe.

That's not true though, the movie was in development and he was already very into martial arts before their divorce. She was supposed to be in the movie before they split.

That's the average length for Chinese tv shows. It's because one season runs are common instead of telling a story over multiple seasons.
There's are benefits and drawbacks to this. One drawback being there's often more filler.

Their "dissuasion commissions" made up of lawyers and social workers do not have the power to mandate compulsory treatment. They either recommend treatment or community service for addicts and if they refuse the commission can issue a sanction such a fine or taking away personal possessions.
Authorities can't forcibly drag addicts into treatment but once they voluntarily consent to treatment they have conditions for release, you can't just check yourself out any time if you have a history of overdosing. Apparently 85% of their addicts voluntarily agree to treatment when asked to by a dissuasion commission.

Reply to comment by InfiNorth in Brazil's Lula appoints Indigenous ministers to reverse Amazon deforestation by loggiews
I'm pretty sure they meant some kind of forest management has always been done, not the practice of clearcutting. I would argue the ancient practice of controlled burning is the perfect example of sustainable forest management that's beneficial to both humans and ecosystems. Far from being pristine wilderness untouched by human activity, Indigenous North Americans have long controlled the types of vegetation in a region using fire. Through controlled burning, they turned forests into grassland, savannah, open woodland and cleared undergrowth in forests to make travel more accessible. Slash and burn agriculture is also a tradition used by the Maya since time immemorial. The Yanomami of the Amazon also used also and burn.
Humans are part of the ecosystem and human intervention has long played a vital role in shaping the natural environment. It's not unnatural to extract resources or actively manage our surrounding environment, we just have to find ways of doing so that is complementary with nature. Logging is not inherently unsustainable, better forestry practices that prioritize preserving old-growth forests and protecting biodiversity are possible. Continuous cover forestry and close to nature forestry are two models that does not destroy the ecosystem and can even help create forests that are more resilient to wildfires. Using lumber does not require the destruction of entire ancient forests.

So these are Wikipedia administrators (admins/sysops) who are top-level volunteer editors. They have the to block or restrict the access of other users. They aren't actually paid by the Wikimedia Foundation who owns Wikipedia. It sounds like those two are Saudi citizens who are unwilling to be puppets of their government.

Briching used to be a common punishment in schools back then. I wonder if that helped to influence tastes.

Confucianism is not explicitly homophobic. gay or lesbian sex was accepted as long as you also marry the opposite sex and have kids. China was not traditionally homophobic when you look at its history. There were gay emperors like Emperor Ai of Han, Emperor Zhengde of Ming and Emperor Tianqi of Ming. Tianqi had a palace just for male lovers and another for female lovers. There were lots of records of court concubines coupling with each other. Homoerotic art and poetry was pretty common.
Gay sex was only criminalized for the first time in the 18th century due to Western influence, using a translation for the word "sodomy". Homophobic attitudes didn't become widespread until the 20th as China "modernized". It's a similar story as what happened in Japan. Before the Meiji period same-sex activity was pretty commonly accepted. Similar story in Korea, gay sex was never seen as scandalous in the old days.
But same-sex marriage was never proposed back then because back then love marriage was unheard of. People had arranged marriages for practical reasons, to benefit the family and pass on the family name. Things have changed though. Now many marriages between heterosexual couples don't result in children, which was exceedingly rare a hundred years ago.
Even in Muslim or Christian societies a prohibition against gay sex hasn't always been the norm. Some sections of the Bible or the Quran get emphasized at certain periods of history but other times they are just seen as irrelevant.

Tradition can play the exact same role in society as religion. As long as people blindly accept tradition without a critical eye, things will not change. Too often old people just think the way things were when they were young is the way it should always be.
Religion is not the root of such ways of thinking, it's a manifestation.

Wilde said his Irish accent was the first thing he forgot once he got to Oxford when he was 20. He might have once had some kind of educated Dublin accent, back when he was attending Trinity.
His mother Jane Elgee was an Irish nationalist despite being Anglo-Irish. She was very in Irish folklore and was part of the Young Ireland movement. She wrote under the name Speranza and once called for an Irish armed rebellion.

He seemed to have had a fairly late-in-life sexual awakening about men. His earlier writings showed more interest in women and courted women such as the actress Lillie Langtry but by his thirties his interest seemed to have shifted solidly to men.
When they first met he wrote passionate love poems to his wife and they had children together. However, they stopped having sex after the birth of their second child which was around the same he first started having affairs with men.
It's impossible to for certain what his predilections were. Perhaps he was pretending earlier and stopped later on. Perhaps his attraction to some women was real but he also had a preference for men, that he was on the gayer side of the Kinsey scale. But once he started experimenting with male sexual partners he seemed to really like it.
