Anvils are typically fired as a celebration, be it to honor St. Clement's (the Patron Saint of blacksmiths) or in a 21 anvil salut as found in New Westminster, British Columbia. by jamescookenotthatone
I don't think I've ever seen someone use the # symbol this way. Interesting~

If you want to draw a colour, but only have a red crayon and a green crayon, it's a lot harder to make something that looks nice than if you have ten different red crayons and ten green crayons in between.

I guess you're right. But I would be equally weirded out to be in the presence of the supposed actual bloody cross of Jesus for example. I went to a church in Belgium that claimed they had a vial with a bloody rag soaked in the actual blood of Jesus. They'd take it out and do a ceremony. That weirded me out too.

I genuinely don't understand the European Catholic obsession with displaying horrifying relics, it's so odd to me

Wait why would anyone get arrested for that? I'm a bit confused.
Thank you for all of the cool info!

I believe Vsauce actually did a video about this. It's because the styles and appearances of the people we associate with a specific age tend to emerge when they are young and continue indefinitely. So we see a guy with this hair, this outfit, this facial hair, and assume "man in 1980s" even if the face is clearly 18.

At least in Tokyo they're still very much expected everywhere inside and even walking on the sidewalks. Big cities' schools are expecting them to be worn as well.
