I know many others have said this already, but it really does need to be repeated. This is an absolutely absurd request.

I wouldn't co-sign for a family member or best friend. Let alone someone I've never met who doesn't even have a stable, high-paying job secured in DC.

Your best bet is to find a private landlord and offer to pay several months in advance. You say you have over $6000 in savings. Good. Pay up to six months deposit on a relatively cheaper apartment and you should be good to go.

Good luck to you.

Last night when I was returning home from a wizards game, I witnessed an entire family close to about 10 family members just hop the gate at Fort Totten. They did this almost as though it was just the norm. I felt like the sucker for actually paying a fare.

It's no wonder Metro is struggling financially. People seem to think the Metro is a free service.

There were 4 homicides on Sunday. It seems like there's been an increase in the frequency of carjackings lately. Though I don't have access to all the data.

What is clear, however, is that criminals perceive a total lack of serious consequences. As a result, I think carjackers see little risk in committing these carjackings. Especially for juveniles.

You'll be fine for the DCA to Dulles leg, but I'd be a little anxious about the international leg from Dulles to DCA. Customs at Dulles is always a train wreck. If you have global entry, go for it. Otherwise, I'd think about some other options.

If you're paying anything less than $1000 and getting over 700 square feet in space, it's definitely a scam.

Notice that none of those listings include even the neighborhood the apartment is located in. I mean, we don't need the address. But you could at least say Trinidad, or Shaw, or something.

Cheer up. Things could always be worse.

The weather lately has been gray, but I think we often forget how lucky we are to live in a city like DC. You're surrounded by monuments and museums. There is always some cool or interesting event to join in this city. And you can meet cool people if you keep an open mind and just be open to being friendly.

And if that's not good enough for you, DC gets really colorful when the cherry blossoms bloom!

How near National Harbor will matter here. The harbor area itself is just fine. But the further east you go, the bigger your security concern might get.

But as noted, unless you're a drug dealer or involved in a local crew or set, you won't be murdered. Carjacked? Maybe...

This is a fine argument for the merit of being a renter.

Just feel fortunate that you lucked out and found a buyer for your home. I would challenge you to factor in down payment, closing costs, maintenance, interest, selling costs, taxes, insurance, and other housing related costs (furniture, utilities, etc) before determining that you actually made a big profit by selling your home.
