I actually got invited to that Samsung store launch earlier this week. I didn’t go because last time Samsung invited me somewhere, they gave me a flip phone to walk around the tour and then took it away afterwards. Was the store worthwhile, OP?

The best way I’ve seen it said is that LA people are nice but not kind and NYers are kind but not nice.

I love dogs but not everyone does. Follow the rules or gtfo.

lolol. funny enough, i actually thought about Artie Bucco when i was writing my first comment here because Joey Il Bacco really is like Artie but without the childhood friendship with a mob boss. The fact that i missed your quote just means i'm probably due for a rewatch of the show.

i know you're being saracastic but...of course he is. He runs a good restaurant in a good location with good food. My family has been going there for years, hosted my grandfather's 80th birthday there. Unfortunate these GOP skells flock there but i assume their money is still green like anyone else's.

Joey Il Bacco is no more tied to the mob than any italian restaurant owner in queens. Mobsters have to eat somewhere and the restaurant owner has to cater to them when they get there because they usually spend big money and throw big tips around.
Infinitely more interesting than any organized crime ties is the fact that Il Bacco is ALSO the place that hosted the Republican Christmas party during quarantine in 2020.

I’m not defending this maniac at all but bikers gotta stop mouthing off and picking fights in the city. I used to be the kind of person who would loudly tell people who were breaking the law or doing stupid shit and over the years my wife has ingrained in me, over and over, the idea that none of this is worth it because you never know who has a gun or a knife or the fragile mental state to do something crazy. As far as I can tell, every person with a car basically has a bike-destroying/life ending weapon and the bikers are all too vocal about their unhappiness when traffic chaos doesn’t go their way, whether the situation can be helped or not.

It’s genuinely shocking how all the changes are making things worse. As a person who walks, bikes, scoots and drives in the boroughs I can’t believe anyone thought these “protected bike lanes” would be a good idea. The change has effectively made the bike lanes gauntlets for bikers to ride in, treacherous tunnels with no option to escape in case of emergencies. And when I say emergencies I mean pedestrians cluelessly standing in the middle of the bike lane, garbage trucks and their employees blocking them to pick up trash, cops doing their normal bullshit of parking wherever the hell they want, delivery trucks backing into loading bays, giant potholes, etc etc.
The worst is seeing bikers avoiding the bike lanes entirely and still riding in traffic, only now the streets are even more narrow because the protected bike lanes have created a five foot wide wall where there used to be space to maneuver. I can’t even blame them for it, I hate being stuck in there too.
And don’t even get me started with the nightmare they created by the Brooklyn bridge. It’s like they did all this planning for a perfect world and not the reality of the chaos of NYC.
