West End. Never had any troubles living here as a young single woman

I commuted on i84 west for a year driving from the west end. Had very few issues since going that direction in the morning and back east in the evening means you’re going against traffic

I think you’d find more of the things you’re looking for living in the West End neighborhood, or West Hartford

Yeah it’s pretty much guaranteed in Hartford and West Hartford any time the weather gets nice

I also have to be close to work. I’m sure it’s different along the shore. But seeing people charge $2k+ for a 1br in Hartford and even West Hartford is mind boggling

So I live in central CT so maybe it’s different along the shore, but WHO is out here paying $2000+ for a 500 sq ft 1br? Genuinely asking. Do these actually get rented or do they sit empty?

The west end neighborhood surrounding Elizabeth park could be a good place to check out. UConn law school is there too and has gothic style architecture. The mark twain house up Farmington avenue. Riverside park is well along the Connecticut river and looks south towards downtown.

You’ll probably get more/better responses if you post in r/connecticut also, if you weren’t already planning on doing so. That said your budget seems realistic from what I’ve been seeing lately

The number of times I’ve seen people fly around school buses even when they’re stopped and have the stop sign extended is disturbing. Is getting somewhere maybe a few seconds ahead of time worth the risk?

You could probably close your eyes and throw a dart at any town in Hartford county (including Hartford itself) and be decently close to all those things. Really it would just depend on your budget more than anything else

Same here. And strawberries are always moldy right from the store. I haven’t been to stews in ages but Whole Foods and even stop and shop have better produce than TJs

Personally I use it to see my neighbors fighting over stupid shit. Never disappoints

From what I know they’d be too light for the machines that take our household recycling to process, but idk if the official bottle return stations are better equipped
