Are you a landlord or something? We don’t want higher rents while salaries remain stagnant lol

Would be great if salaries could also be made to follow that as well. 3% market adjustment here!

MLK library is also relatively recently redone and quite nice. Both done by pretty well known architecture firms, Mecanoo (MLK) and Perkins & Will (SW)

Easy explanation. Money follows neither effort nor knowledge. It’s not “fair” but it’s just how the market works

People say this as if it’s surprising. We may associate Christmas and new years as “peak winter” but winter actually only begins on December 21 and lasts until March 21.

Reply to Does this subreddit represent the true sentiment DC residents have for their city? by 42beastmode
People go out of their way to complain more than they would to say complimentary things. On top of that, any place looses its charm, becomes boring, presents issues once you live there and face the realities of life. It’s the classic grass is greener idiom.
DC is a great city. 6th largest city but 2nd largest public transportation. Free museums, nature everywhere, global culture due to it being the capital of the country. Lots of benefits of being here, but like many cities, has challenges, both unique to DC, and shared with all cities.

Reply to comment by Attention_Deficit in Where to park near the Wharf and Intercontinental? by Libshitz74
Most of these are concentrated in the office & hotel dense area just north of the highway (Federal Center) which is close-by but not necessarily intuitive if you’re not from around. The neighborhoods of SW don’t have much other than street parking. Be sure to pick one that’s 24/7

Born and raised in Fairfax county. Went to school out of state but returned. DC as a city is fairly well balanced in most aspects and pretty ideal for me. Has a lot to offer while being a humane city.

Tbh I don’t interact with a lot of people outside of my job / friend group.

I used to drive there almost every time and never had any issues if you reserve parking ahead of time and lock your doors. Now I don’t have a car and a bit nervous how that’s gonna work out

I’ll be there! Been a fan of Echostage for a few years and seen A&B before there. Will be fun!

I’ve heard rumors that after 9/11 if a plane crosses the Potomac into the no fly zone that it gets shot down. Dunno if that’s true at all though lol

Capitol Hill or Georgetown are traditionally very pretty. I do have a soft spot for some of the mid century stuff in SW though.
By contrast, I find all of the homogenous development in Navy Yard hideous. Sorry
