Seriously, often the lanes are NOT at all equally safe. You feel like everyone is going too slowly and you want to pass, but that left lane is much more snowy/slushy than the right. Suddenly you're hanging out there needing to speed up quite a bit and pass everyone, but realize that it doesn't feel as safe as it would in the right lane. Pair that with a sweeping right turn and you're suddenly white knuckled, trying not to fly off into the median. Worth it to save a minute or two?

What are my incorrect beliefs again? Just trying to figure out what you're arguing against. Now you're talking about snowfall vs snowfall that "sticks around"... seems like that was the whole point we were trying to make in the first place.

Not sure that /u/Generic_Commenter-X was actually trying to start an argument (neither am I disputing your point about snowfall), and I actually do agree (just in my personal experience) with their point about the actual snow base throughout the winter. To your point, do you have any data that supports temperature correlating directly to snowfall? There are lots of high pressure, super cold times when we get no snow. Also a lot of "warmer" days when we get dumped on with heavy, wet snow. I just find it interesting that you spin up your own narrative in the same breath that you're trying to debunk others' narratives.

It's just a matter of traction, i don't really think the road itself is intimidating or anything. Just a climb up maybe 3 miles from Rt 2 to the base area. Consistently uphill (downhill going the other way!), some places a bit steeper than others. If it's the summer, it's not at all intimidating: no cliffs/dropoffs like you'd see in Colorado or something. Just a climb through the woods. No quick ups and downs like you mention.. just a coupla tightish corners. If you have snow tires and drive at a reasonable speed, you'll be fine.

Yeah, it's like this in all the "leash only" areas I'm usually in. Also gives people the excuse not to pick up after their dogs, because they get to pretend they're not shitting everywhere. I have a dog, and it drives me nuts how entitled most dog owners are about this stuff.
