Same! I’ve read so much more since I got my first kindle back in 2007(?). One of my best all time purchases. I love a paper book but space is very limited for me so I’ve gotten rid of almost all my books since I got my kindle. And I keep a wishlist of books on my Amazon account that I check everyday and buy books when on sale. Almost all the books I’ve purchased ranged from free to $6 USD at most. I’ve only bought a handful books at full price (Michelle and Barack Obama’s books).

Reply to Reading Resolutions: 2022 by AutoModerator
I’d like to read 6-7 books a month. And for every 10 books I read, at least one will be non-fiction. I’ve grown to like non-fiction because I’ve forced this habit in the last two years. I find it too heavy and slow reads sometimes because there is so much content in nonfiction books and I want time to absorb it, but I do like reading nonfiction now.

Reply to Do you find yourself reading more non-fiction books and less fiction as you get older? by disruptivelychill
I’ve always loved fiction and make myself read at least one non-fiction book for every 10 fiction books I read. I now love non-fiction because i only read the really good ones, but I find that I read a lot more slowly. I’m well into my 40s with family, I find I like the easy fun reads more than I used to. I think fiction is like an escape from the craziness and stress of the everyday.
I now know why my parents only ever wanted to watch comedy and no heavy movies, I think it’s the same reason of just needing an escape.

Same, I add to both lists. I scroll through my Amazon kindle wishlist daily and buy the books on sale. I rarely ever buy a book at regular price because almost all the books go on sale at some point. I think I’ve only paid regular price for Michelle and Barack Obama’s books because I couldn’t wait and also thought they deserved my money.

I love it when no quotations are used for speech, like the sally rooney books and also girl, woman, other. It makes it feel like it’s more quiet or muffled or something. I love the effect.

Just stay with it if you don’t mind this style of writing. I really liked it but it’s about imperfect characters. I really liked Kafka on the shore, but did not like 1Q84.

This!! Parents are taught to let little kids read (almost) whatever they want. It doesn’t matter what it is as long as they are reading or trying to read. I think this should apply to adults as well.
