While NH has no state income tax. the property taxes and others are quite high and social services are lacking. Abortion rights have been put on the table by republican politicians multiple times and we have a republic Governor for now. please keep that in mind. What is available today may not be available tomorrow. The gay community is welcome here for the most part along with the rest of New England. Anyplace in New England a more progressive than Florida, but I would suggest Massachusetts over NH. Better schools, better medicine, decent social services, mass transit, small towns and big cities. But NH has the White Mountains and the Lakes Region to brag about which keeps me here. Vermont is VERY progressive, but is quite cold and border patrol has made a bit of a mess in some areas that abut Canada.

Oh good point about Meetup. Do not make an account if it's against policy, that is for your safety. Maybe if a parent makes an account, you can find a club in your area that involves teens with their parents. After attending a couple Meetups with a parent, you might find a few new friends that way. Your parent may be up for a new friend or two as well :) Pick an event you may both enjoy. Also, about libraries, I think Derry is for Derry residents only, so check with your local one.

The public library in Derry NH has a teen art and writing club that creates and publishes its own magazines. Check your local library to see if it has options you may like. Go in person and ask your librarian if they know of any activities for your age group that may be hosted by other agencies. Not knowing what town you're in makes it tough to give many more ideas. Many games shops have game nights etc. Barnes and Nobles have a lot of book club meetups. Meetup.com has hiking and other outdoor activities.

Concord will give you quicker access to Concord Hospital and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. The best rated medicine in the State of New Hampshire. Concord also boasts quick access to the White Mountains national park system, it is less than an hour to the New Hampshire Seacoast, is about an hour to Boston Massachusetts and a half hour to Manchester, an even bigger city than Concord. Concord is a pretty large but not huge city with plenty of night life, theatre, books, museums a wonderful planetarium, tons of shops etc. It is a BEAUTIFUL city. Keep in mind, New Hampshire real estate can get a bit pricey as far as property tax etc. Many Concord suburbs are even more beautiful than Concord itself.

Waterfront- spare bedroom for visiting friends- I LOVE living on a lake. Get a kayak, you would love it. A bit longer commute. Be aware of yard, snow and heating expenses while living on the water. You can get utility expense history on the address by inquiring with the utility directly. https://www.apartments.com/38-allen-rd-brookfield-ma/wqd7hll/

If you can do yard and snow removal. Keep in mind, we can get tons of snow or sometimes barely any. You must be prepared if this listing interests you. I chose this one because as a single, you would have privacy but close access to big city life. Worcester is huge and vibrant with art, concerts, retail etc.

It really would depend on your income. Harvard MA is beautiful but pricey. Same goes for Hollis NH. Lowell and Nashua are cities, Nashua having some very nice areas as well as some not so nice. It also depends on if you are renting vs. buying. Keep in mind, route 495 is a nightmare. Avoid it if possible. If it were me, I would go south towards Boxboro-Concord.
