It was very helpful in other countries I’ve lived in.

100% I have used a system like this in other countries just for such a thing.

Hard disagree.

General: I would fix the fare gates because the dude sitting in the same train car as me smoking weed(?) definitely didn’t tap in and I wish he wasn’t here. Can’t ban people if there’s no requirement to enter.
Tiny: Have all the trains stop at the exact same spot and add numbers to the floor in front of designated places for doors to open so you know which door is closest to the elevator, escalator/stairs, transfer, etc.

Pete’s Diner

Easy parking on the street or access to Metro (Capitol South). Affordable prices. Great local spot. Food is tasty and filling. Can pretty much see the Capitol building from its door.
You are welcome.

Most of the tourists are gone.
Feels a little less crowded this morning.

What’s really not hype is the state of the sidewalks around the tidal basin.
For such a big tourist spot you’d think that NPS would actually take care of it.

They are definitely in other places besides Japan and DC.
But they’re pretty anywhere.

Why would a stranger legally bind themselves to you?
Do what others have said: rent a room, not a unit.
This post is a big red flag, and a lot of your comments aren’t helping, OP.

Greatly agree that the cafe scene lacks appropriate seating.
Couple that with WFH people camping out all day and the classic cafe vibe can be elusive.
Then there’s all the places that try to minimize seating to encourage you to just get up and go.

Was pretty wild. Maybe should stay away from medical news. 😆
Pretty accurate on crime though.

I mean, population wise it would make sense that there’s more crime WOTR. But that’s just not how things be.
swampoodler t1_jdh6ppy wrote
Also a car-jacking spree yesterday.
Two dudes armed with handguns jacked one over by the Safeway in Hill East before driving EOTR with it.
Wild because that area is pedestrian heavy.

Unsure if you got him but a LOT of bloody paw prints in front of where Harris Teeter used to be across from Potomac Ave Station.
Edit: Saw that you did. Nice!

So you are suggesting they either a.) threaten the building or b.) lie to the building?
Interesting.

When I moved in I asked about trash location / services.
You only make the mistake once.

Ear plugs.
They aren’t going to move the trash compactor.
It’s really a question that should have been asked before signing the lease.

Potomac Ave literally just had a shooting a month ago.
So yeah my dude count yourself lucky. Getting more wild to ride every day.
Cars are dangerous but that doesn’t take away from the absolute fact that Metro is getting worse in regard to safety. People are going to feel that, and decide to take an Uber / Lyft / etc instead when they can, or use their personal vehicles if they have one.
DC needs to up its police presence inside Metro stations and keep public transit safe to ride.

I mean specific numbers stamped on the floor at stations, where doors always align.
“Bro I’m on Green. Meet me at door 2-2 at Mt Vernon.”
So easy.
