If ‘time consuming’ is how you think of going to see the cherry blossoms then maybe you’re better off staying home. Think of the gas you’ll save!

Agreed, I'd gladly take more noise if it meant that bicyclists and pedestrians are actually protected. It's a mess out there.

They could try something called "compromise", but that might be too much for their egos. So instead they will waste taxpayer money and do nothing.

This is downright petty. It's sad that they are wasting time on this when they could be doing actual work.

You're making the right decision. 3 months ago I entered a crosswalk because I saw a vehicle slowing down as it approached a stop sign. Did it stop? No. It rolled through and hit me, and the impact broke my ankle.
I was very lucky that nothing worse happened, but only as of this week I'm starting to walk again after surgery and with physical therapy. Just like you, I will never assume a car is going to stop again.

How much are the tables? Was considering getting one since I'm recovering from a broken ankle but am going alone. If you're open to others joining I can help pitch in

Hey! Not weird at all. I'm going and like going out to concerts in the area. DM me if you're still looking for people to hang out with.

It's my 2 cents. I was hit by a car here 2 months ago and it broke my ankle. Now I won't be able to walk until January. I can't change the drivers here so this will be my mode of walking going forward

Don't assume they are going to stop. Wait to walk until they've come to a complete stop. Otherwise you're gambling with your safety. The rules are different here.

You get way more variety in NYC, because well it’s NYC and there’s millions of people there. But maybe if there’s a niche place in DC someone likes then it’s understandable. To each their own.
