Which popular fast food chains is Newark missing? Or maybe not so popular ones that you would want to be here? I’m thinking Arby’s, Long John Silver, where else?

Why bring in chains when we can grow our own?
RIP to the Ironbound QuickChek
What they said ☝🏾 Five Guy’s in Newark would be jumpin’ every day of the week.
Problem is there's already one in Harrison.
Waffle House
Chick f la
Hilariously good local restaurants are really Newark's strongest point.
But also white castle.
Del Taco
Where are the Newark late night diner spots? There appears to be nothing, at least not by UMD. You’d think between the hospital, the colleges, and the court complex there would be something.
For real it is time for jersey to get some waffle houses. The argument against them used to be we had diners that are 24/7 but now that they aren’t a thing anymore we need Waffle House
Andros is 24 hours in the ironbound
I loved waffle house growing up in Maryland. It was one of my favorite hang-out places in my 20s. It was either a place to hang out with friends or have sunday breakfast with my dad
Cook Out
Fast food, not chain restaurants.
Five Guys, Popeyes, Wawa
Pollo Tropical, Moe's Southwest Grill, Ford's Garage, PDQ, Zaxby's, Firehouse Subs.
Is that only 24hr food spot?
Altas horas nearby is 24 hours too last I checked but yeah, COVID killed a lot of the 24 hour spots, it really sucks
We don’t need anymore fast food
Hamburgão is amazing and local!
We briefly had Pollo Tropical in the late 2000s / early 2010s but they closed all there NJ locations. QDOBA is very similar to Moes...
Covid killed alot of 24/7 places even most of NYC is dead after 12am now...even busy highway spots shut down after 1 or 2am on weekends...Hopefully that trend reverses after inflation goes down.
I want a Roy Rogers...I'm sadden that they are gone from the Turnpike Rest Stops..
Shake Shack is a former shell of what it once was...
I moved a few years ago. Did it even kill the "suspicious yellow rice with equally suspicious sticky chicken that only copious amounts of hotsauce can fix" 24/7 Chinese restaurants?
LOL I avoid Chinese restaurants in Newark like it’s my job so I can’t offer any insight on that one fortunately
Fair, but there's Fernandes for steak and 15+ places for rodizio. P.F. Chang's would be good though.
Hamburgão is bangin, but just not the same when you want to get 15 cheap little burgers then smell like you ate 15 cheap little burgers for a day or two.
Yeah, understandable. I definitely ate a lot of that cheap, shady Chinese food in my younger party years.
BTW, Chinatown in Harrison is your best bet for good Chinese food. Their sushi is great too, if not a little pricey.
Wow 33 comments so far
I used to like them but they went way downhill if you haven’t been there lately
Yeah, it's been many years. That sucks to hear, they were the only good Chinese food within delivery range. I wonder if they changed owners or something.
That 5guys is always slammed. They tell you 20 minutes, and it’s an hour. During Covid when takeout and DD was huge, they had to-go orders on every surface available, it was insane.
I think Newark could benefit from one
Also I decided I’m getting 5guys for dinner tonight now, ha
There's a Popeyes near the ShopRite it's just trash tho
I moved here around 2 months ago from NYC and was shocked at the lack of Starbucks locations. It seams like Dunkin Donuts has this town locked down like the mafia
Shake shack is pretty expensive though.
That would have to be close to the college.
They opened a new one in Edison a few years back but it closed rather quickly.
There aren't enough Dunkin Donuts.
You speak truth
The Wawa in Belleville might as well be Newark’s Wawa
Roy Rogers, in & out Burger
There’s one in orange now
It looks as though you may have spelled "Chick-fil-A" incorrectly. No worries, it happens to the best of us!
Dunkin is superior to Starbucks when you know what to order
Blink twice of Dunkin’ execs have you under surveillance
BRING BACK THE BOJANGLES.
They are like 4 popeyes in newark lol

Was there ever a Wawa in Newark? I could have sworn there was one but it closed down
Just because there is one in Harrison doesn’t mean there can’t be one in Newark. It’s two different places
I wanna drive down to Philly and go to Canes but idk if i want it that bad. Plus it might be terrible outside Louisiana 😭
Agreed 😂
I agree with this one lol
We should have 5 more, no, 10 !
Mb I was thinking just downtown 😭

Downtown Newark is crazy. It can be so much better but you know what, i love it anyway.
In and out rules. They actually cut up whole potatoes to make the fries. Better than the shit frozen junk you get at most fast food places
Well how come 5 guys fries better? Hmm? HMM???
They’re not?
There’s a jersey mikes right off of halsey St
Wawa was proposed for 21, but a very silly lady campaigned against it because it would “bring prostitution” to Lower Broadway. It went to Belleville instead.
I hope so, bc it really sucks. Almost all former 24/7 spots are closed by midnight. Most 10 p.m. these days. You're right...even in NYC, and forget trying to find 24/7 diners. Jersey used to be full of them. Such a damn shame.
I think once inflation eases some more next year you'll start to see 24/7 return on weekends...and by 2024 everywhere.
Def hope so!
NEW York aside from the lack of late night options is back to normal and people seem unfazed by the higher prices.
I'm there pretty frequently. Will be there tonight. Back to normal on a few levels, but changed in others. Not historically, but as compared to the last 2 decades or so. It seems to have a little more grit, and a few more quiet corners.
I feel the grit areas only expanded from a few neighborhoods like Les or hells kitchen
