Yeah you just gotta remind yourself too that it is reddit lol

If his performance tonight wasn’t scary enough, the censorship and PR campaign being run on here and elsewhere surely is. It’s amazing how everyone thought Fetterman did great tonight
OligarchWelfare t1_ittil32 wrote
Just because you fascists think only your opinion should be allowed or else it's censorship, doesn't mean it's censorship.

Edit: at least he "clarified" his position (I think?)
What a shitshow.

Whether you like it or not, until green energy technology advances our world is reliant on oil. Europe showed that. Best not to be be against oil right now.
LordFarquaad_theG t1_itsty4l wrote
No, I'd rather not be held hostage by Saudi Arabia who can jack up prices anytime they want.
Keep oil production the same but invest heavily in energy diversification which would bring true energy independence.
Janderss182 t1_itsua61 wrote
Yeah like nuclear energy predominately
LordFarquaad_theG t1_itsufaa wrote
Nuclear is not bad. But we need to diversify, can't rely on one source of energy.
Janderss182 t1_itsukr1 wrote
Cool. Most green energy sucks, is expensive, and is not efficient.
LordFarquaad_theG t1_itsuwm4 wrote
Not true. Solar, wind, geothermal, hydro are good non-dispatchable sources we can use to diversify.

Hence why they are called non-dispatchable. You need to have both dispatchable and non-dispatchable for true energy independence.

There have been 4 of these in the last hour alone. If there were stupid low effort “fEtTeRmAn BaD” memes being posted every 15 minutes instead of “oZ bAd”, I’d feel the exact same way.

Why isn’t Conor lamb up there
darkbloo64 t1_itsve9g wrote
Cause Lamb was a guaranteed L against Oz. He was too moderate to actually motivate voters, which is why Fetterman ran off with more than twice the votes Lamb could scrounge up in the primary.
stahleo t1_itt01hp wrote
The debate was over as soon as Fetterman said, "Hi, good night."
ThunderySleep t1_itt8zl3 wrote
Oh golly gee.... Yet another totally organic shit-tier meme from an activist account that exclusively posts memes regarding different campaigns across the county.
That aside: Fetterman's meme references did him no favors in this debate. He acted like a little kid with the outbursts and interruptions, not to mention the terrible answers. Trying to be hip with the references didn't help.

Whistle_Pigs t1_itug6ck wrote
That seems like a bit of an extreme stance but I was hoping to get an understanding of what Fetterman stood for and what some of his actual plans are but I couldn’t comprehend anything like that from what he was saying. Debates aren’t everything but it at least give people a chance to hear candidates out, apart from those god awful campaign commercials, and after an hour I couldn’t tell you one moment where he gave any details about what he truly intends to do. It was just a bad look listening to him trying to form complete sentences.
LordFarquaad_theG t1_itsub9n wrote

Janderss182 t1_itsx0gl wrote
Again your just saying the same thing that everyone says who wants his team to win
ShockTheCasbah t1_itsv7pt wrote
It's not. When something is socialized, it means one entity (the government) controls the sole means of service and production.
LordFarquaad_theG t1_itsvl22 wrote
Medicare (government provided healthcare) is socialism lol
ShockTheCasbah t1_itsvt5z wrote
Is a seniors only option for healthcare Medicare?
LordFarquaad_theG t1_itswhuo wrote
No, you could get private insurance via an employer, but your insurance would go away as soon as you left or were let go.
Premiums, deductibles, and co-pays are all much higher with private insurance however.
Which is why I laugh at anyone who tries to criticize Medicare since it keeps costs low for users.
ShockTheCasbah t1_itswlqc wrote
SOLE MEANS OF PRODUCTION
LordFarquaad_theG t1_itsxh93 wrote
I don't think you are educated enough about this topic.
ShockTheCasbah t1_itsy778 wrote
You don't even understand the definitions of the words you're using.
Just Google the word socialism and tell me what it says. Also, don't try and justify changing the definition of words to fit a weird and gaslighting type narrative that justifies Medicare is "socialized".
LordFarquaad_theG t1_itt1fnw wrote
Define socialized
ShockTheCasbah t1_itt2cwc wrote
You mean, like how I did in my first post? (without insulting you, I might add)
In a socialized medicine system, the government (or any entity really) controls the sole means of production and distribution of healthcare. No private insurance. What you're describing is a welfare capitalist state.
Poli science 101, but maybe you aren't educated enough this topic.
LordFarquaad_theG t1_itt3akt wrote
You're playing semantics.
You're argument is that Medicare is not socialized medicine since it does not employ the doctors and own the hospitals, but I'd say it's closer to socialized medicine due to its ability to provide healthcare to everyone.
ShockTheCasbah t1_itt4o64 wrote
My argument is that medicare is not socialized because there are multiple (infinite for arguments sake if you're rich) sources of private healthcare options for every American. The definition of "socialized" means that the government (or any centralized entity - THE PEOPLE) have a monopoly on all that is healthcare. They are VERY different.
Medicare is capitalist welfare.
LordFarquaad_theG t1_itt4tcf wrote
What would Medicare for All be then?
ShockTheCasbah t1_itt4wxd wrote
With a private option, it is STILL capitalist welfare. Without, it is socialized.
LordFarquaad_theG t1_itt54hj wrote
Medicare for All would eliminate all private healthcare. Would that make it "socialized"
ShockTheCasbah t1_itt7cun wrote
Yes, if the only legal option you had for healthcare services were owned and operated by the government.
