Been to a ton of PC Basketball games and wanted to take my kid to her first game. Used to pay $30-40 but saw tickets to next Wednesdays game are $100-$125 for terrible seats on stub hub.

Any ideas on a better way to get tickets? PC website doesn’t seem to be selling anything

Wait until next fall. First few games of the year are always cheap

This is the way, went to one of the early games this year for $6.

The OP wants to go next Wednesday, not next season.

Tickets are gonna cost more when they’re ranked in the top 25

A lot more people interested in going

Go to a women’s friars game not a men’s game .Always cheaper. Mondays game tickets are 8-10 bucks.

Why are they cheaper?

Lack of demand. Women's sports aren't as popular in general and they're just not some pedigree team with a history of winning.

Because not as high profile as overblown men’s games? General sentiment that women’s sports aren’t as “good” etc etc. but totally worth it!

Ignoring the difference in preferences for the sport overall, it's not exactly unfair to point out that the PC Men's basketball program is good and the women's one has basically been a sub .500 team for 30 years.

Except this is the case across the board in the NCAA (with the exception of home games for say South Carolina or whomever is the #1 wbb team), not specific to PC. It's never about rank, it's about thinking that women's games aren't worth it. examples.... in any case, it's a cheaper ticket, you'll be closer to the action and it's more of a team sport instead of hot shots trying to get to the NBA before graduation. If your daughter wants to learn more about how a team plays, go to a women's game (NCAA or WNBA). URI women are also really fun to watch this season.

It's funny to say something like this while claiming everybody else has some unfair bias.

I don't like the idea of blaming fans for not liking or supporting something. Everyone only has so much time and energy in their life and I don't think anyone should be obligated to get into something if it doesn't interest them.

I think a lot of the uphill challenges that women's sports face are going to erode over the next few decades but I don't really fault anyone for not caring now.

Same reason WNBA tickets are cheaper

They are on a streak (or were until last night), so any ticket is going to be insane. There are also only two more home games

You aren’t getting a big East game this late in the season for cheap

They sold over 10,000 season tickets this year in an arena with a little over 12,000 seat capacity. That trend will probably continue. As others have said, early season games are the easiest tickets to get for cheap(ish). The days of $30-$40 Friars games are gone. Sucks for families, but it’s great for the program.

Team is really good now, looking like a perennial contender, so ticket prices have gone up on the resale market. If you want to pay less you gotta buy direct from the PC box office when they go on sale for the season

And if you want a game like Xavier or Villanova you have to buy season tickets

I was able to get individual game tickets for vs. Xavier but I got raked over the coals

Both teams are ranked so it’s a hot ticket. Wait till next season and go early on, sorry my guy

Best thing I’ve noticed is to go during the week and to games where they play a poor opponent i.e Georgetown.

Best time to get tickets is when the schedule is announced. Best time is November-December. With only 2 home games left and PC in the top 25 tickets are at a premium at this time

Supply and demand. With about 10000 season tickets now, that leaves about 2500 tickets for the general public

They're playing number 16 in the nation Xavier during the 2nd consecutive ranked season and are pretty much a lock for the tournament. PC website isn't selling any because they're sold out. If you want really cheap tickets, go to their games before conference play next season.

Crazy how prices have skyrocketed, I remember when I was in Grade School and they didn't have the current arena. They used to play in different places around the area. One place was the Bank Street Armory in Fall River for 15 Cents. It is still college ball. WTF.

portriprov t1_j9ptpi4 wrote

Wrong year to get a deal on that… You could maybe wait until last minute for prices to drop.

PC Hockey games are affordable and a cool experience for kids in the meantime.

Go to a URI game instead, you’ll only pay like $5 a ticket. They aren’t doing well so tickets are very very cheap. It’s definitely not the same experience as a PC game, but it’s something fun to do with kids regardless of what team is playing.

I have season tickets and the last few games of the season are always in demand especially since they’re conference games. Take her to a PC hockey game, they’re ranked but the tickets are like $10

Email just went out saying new season tickets are now available for next season.

Upper corner seats are available at $300/season. If you don't want to pay a lot for Friars games, that's your best option.

If you choose not to pick them up, don't complain next year when ranked games are out of your price range.

Terrible seats?

There is no such thing as terrible seats at the AMP.

I have seats in the upper corner. My first year they were $170, now a new seat is $300 for the year.

So tell me. Knowing that my seats cost a grand a year, and half those games are against the Merrimacks and Sacred Hearts of the world, what should I be charging?

You can pretend all you want, but alas, its the AMP. Unfortunately Dunkin' Donuts didn't want to open up their checkbook to renew their naming rights. And it hasn't been the civic center for one 20 years. It's time to move on.
