What an eyesore. Seems like there should be a rule on street side construction coverings.

Edit: I understand this is a very “karen” take, but you could at least spray paint the plywood so it doesn’t look like an abandoned building.

Hopefully not another restaurant that will end up closing :( idk why that spot is such a revolving door.

It's a new restaurant, owned by the same guy who owns Kouzina (the Greek place) a few doors down among some other restaurants. It hasn't got a name officially yet but will probably be good - the owner seems to know what he's doing.

They have an Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/officialrestaurantunknown/) which suggests the name might be "Ricano" and the focus might be cocktails/provisions.

They are gutting the restaurant and rebuilding it completely which is messy work, the windows are likely to be damaged in the process. It only takes a month or two usually. I'm not sure what the alternative is to boarding the windows temporarily while they do the work.

Would be nice to see a grocery market in downtown. Will probably just be another mediocre restaurant though

Since Black Bear (Hula Hanks), this place has been a multitude of failures in this spot. Hope something survives as it's so unclear why this location can't attract any restaurant with longevity to Columbus Park. The city has to make this more pedestrian friendly but it's a bus route so it will never be car free but it should. Same issue with the Japanese Hibachi spot that has been vacant across the street between Riviera Maya and Noches de Colombia.

The latest downtown fatalities were Betto Sushi which lasted less than 6 months next door to Liberty Tax on the other corner and Tamarindo Latin American on Atlantic Street at Landmark Square.

I assure you, the woman that owns that building doesn’t care. She cares about getting that space functioning so she can have a stable tenant and rent.

It’s a construction zone, no one is going to take time out to spray paint plywood when this is how it’s commonly done.

Yes, look at the space at Harbor Point that was once World of Beer is still empty 6 years later and look inside when you are at Sign of the Whale or Bareburger as they never even emptied out the place when it closed landlord BLT just locked the doors and didn't let them back in.
