You're being downvoted because your comment doesn't contribute to the discussion. This is like when you ask a question about a product on Amazon and a bunch of verified purchasers get the notification and respond with "I don't know".

Honesty is important, making a pointless reply that does not contribute to anything is not. It is clearly a rhetorical question, meaning it does not require an answer, it was asked for dramatic effect and/or to make a point. So no you don't always need to answer when someone asks.

Arizona and Texas are allowing Saudi Arabia to use our water resources for massive agricultural operations to support their cattle industry which can't be sustained by Saudi Arabians desert because growing cattle feed is impossible in the desert. Biden has no control of what Texaw and Arizona do with their farmland.

holymurphy t1_j3g92qu wrote

Imagine blaming Biden, when it's the states of Texas and Arizona who sells their farmland to whom they choose.

Biden literally has no control over what they use their land for, and frankly, has more urgent matters to attend.

i hope this came with a stipulation that they can only use it for tribal people and never sell it to anyone else.

Yeah he gets told to sign bills for good optics. The fact this is such a big deal to you people just proves how utterly dumb the average person does. Signing a largely unimportant bill that no one was talking about before, does not magically absolve Bidens administration from all the other terrible policies and crimes they're responsible for.

So if I gave back something I stole from someone years ago, does that absolve me from murdering a completely different person? The logic doesn't make sense and really shows democrats will grab onto anything that gives them security in aligning with a mental patient being controlled by strings.

DaddyPlsSpankMe t1_j3h61ap wrote

Damn you’re like tight that Biden secured water rights and land for thousands of Native Americans. Just because the bill won’t have an effect on my life or yours does not undermine the importance of it. Maybe no one was really talking about it because a majority of American disregard Native American rights?

HyruleanFox t1_j3h6ut2 wrote

Interesting point, I guess you shouldn't have an issue with the BLM movement by that logic?

I mean, slavery and segregation were YEARS ago. But, if you finally give black people some semblance of equality, despite it not being truly equal, that doesn't absolve you from murdering and enslaving a completely different person!

So, like, black people have a reason to feel dejected and untrustworthy of our modern society that had done so much and continues to do so much wrong.

Thank you! The logic of your words makes complete sense and really shows that the Republicans will always always fail to see the irony of equivalencies in their own words that have been spoon fed like to them through Facebook groups led by nutcases and foreign government entities (theres actual proof on this); and they eat that shit up like a little bit of chicken fried. 😄 Takes one to know one I guess!

that's not how it works. the reason they're given water is it's a human right. it's water. they werent suddenly given 1 billion dollars. it makes no sense to give them water just so they can sell it. just like how they use indian land to house casinos.

Hey I’m as blue as they get, but even I can admit Biden has dementia. He was better than the alternative and I’m happy he won… and I think all that other stuff sad in the above post was a stretch also… but it’s def no secret he has dementia.

As somebody who has lived in Arizona, northern and southern…. I appreciate this bill. I think he does a lot better than people give him credit for.

I've been really impressed by Biden's administration and the steps they've been taking. It hasn't been perfect, but many of these decisions seem targeted to help those who need it and set right some wrongs. It could also be some severe juxtaposition, too lol

So it's kind of complicated. Intel and TSMC are going to be major water users as they build their new fabs in the Phoenix area. (To a lesser extent ON Semi, NXP, Microchip, and I think a few others have existing fabs and are water users too.) They recycle water through their systems, so one gallon goes around in circles, effectively like 5-10 times before it goes out as effluent. Still use a lot of water. But they get their water from the cities of Phoenix and Chandler, which already have sustainable water supplies from Central Arizona Project (CAP = aqueduct from the Colorado River) and SRP's water source (Theodore Roosevelt Dam from the Verde and Salt Rivers). Part of TSMC's project approval & purchase of land came with certain water rights transferred from the State of Arizona for CAP water. There are different levels of priority for access to CAP water, and the ones at the bottom are agricultural use (cotton/alfalfa/citrus etc.), if I remember correctly. So if there's a water shortage from the Colorado River, ag users give up their water before city water supplies have to reduce even one gallon. Tribal rights to Colorado River water are in the highest class of priority, if I remember correctly. I can't see the tribes selling their water outright. They could lease their share to other users... I'm not sure how that would work in practice, though. No one in their right mind would plan development that depends on water in perpetuity coming from a lease --- what happens if the lease runs out and is not renewed? But there's ways of "banking" water by letting it percolate underground to an aquifer, which then allows you to use ground water later if/when you need it. So that's still valuable even if it's not an outright sale of water rights.

It's important to the tribes to be able to manage their natural resources to the fullest extent --- so this is a good thing for them.

I wouldn't worry about the chip fabs, though.

This dude's post history is Extra Fucking Yikes. Full-on Q-Anon crazy-hole bullshit. Believes the bullshit about soy, which then goes hand-in-hand with screeching about trans people, and then all the "I'm not, you are" lies about Biden to try and deflect from what an utter looney their chosen fascist saviour is.

Put it this way: he's an Andrew Tate defender.
