If I recall correctly Jefferson county also often has pretty high turnout.
It’s the olds. Jefferson County has the oldest median age.
"I thought the term was, "boomer""
Although, ya know there were a lot more signs for that person who was running against Patty Murray than I expected.
Hello!
(~Squiggy voice)
Aw...Shirley
Yeah, that was sad. I loved L&S as a kid.
I’ve beef roofing the Safeway for the past 3-4 months staying in a hotel. Stopped going to the bars after the second week they made us feel unwelcome
May I ask what happened?
Of course! There is a bar called PT anchor there that is where we first started getting bad service. The bartender would ignore us when we would ask for drinks, gave us dirty looks and just overall a bad attitude and poor service. After the second time we went there after leaving a generous tip on the company card we received equally poor service the second time. We decided to try a different bar the next night. There we have great service until we see the same bartender from first bar(PT anchor) come in and sit down to have a drink. He has a conversation with the bartender and after that we began receiving poor service again. The next time we went to PT anchor we asked the guy why he has a problem with us and he told us because we were “outsiders” and they were “Townees” and that we didn’t belong there.
They can have their little town full of old people I was just there for work. Would have spent lots of money on the company card and tipped well but this guy chose to alienate us from the town.
We did go into a couple small bars that were really cool and great service like the in between.
Give sirens a shot. Only ever gotten good service there.
Yes, and the Pourhouse.
I love Sirens. Their food is great. That salmon sandwich. Only other bar I’ve been to has been Hilltop and I got a tbi the first time I was there. Totally not my fault. I’m still recovering from it.
So watch out if you go, cause the pull tabs stuff hanging all over the bar block sight lines, and the waitresses come out from behind like gang busters.
But other than that it was fun.
I’m really sorry to hear that. That is really bizarre behavior because PT needs tourism besides locals. They rely heavily on tourist season for a lot of the shops in downtown. I love the in between. I liked when they had the deck open downstairs and you could drink right on the water. I’m really sorry you had that experience. That bar is in a space that has turned over many times in the last decade. With behavior like that I don’t see it lasting long. Shit service doesn’t really work. I love PT and spend a lot of time there but I will admit it’s never really at bars. Did you try soak on the sound while you were there?
I love PT, lived there awhile in the early 90's. This is my experience there, too. People are dicks in PT until they get to know you.....sometimes. Sometimes they're always going to be dicks to you. Or they except you only to kick you to the curb later.
I grew up in a smallish town, Astoria, OR, and people there don't have that edge. Maybe it's because of the art/craftsman/quirky outcast thing in PT and the working-class/rough around the edges/haven't got the pretentiousness in Astoria. PT lost it's allure for me pretty quickly. They could be nice....they don't want to be.
Everyone I’ve met in person has been really nice. I joined next door against my better judgement, because a neighbor suggested it as a way to find referrals for landscapers and such. It’s not so much “ oh my god there’s a teenager in a hoodie”, it more bitching about the roads or why they don’t want the golf course touched. Some people on next door are not welcoming let’s say. Oh well. So sad./s
It's stupid AF that this kind of thing happens. Way to run a business, morons.
What is beef roofing? I Googled it but no results
Instead of using shingles you use stakes.
Well done.
I think they meant “been” roofing
Which bartender was it. Just curious. The redhead with the beard, or the guy with the wild hair?
Defs super liberal and smug too.
Defs super liberal and smug too.
Progressive: Bellingham
Conservative: the rest of Whatcom County
Seconded.
Went to WWU, worked on farms in Ferndale/Lynden.
I live in Birch Bay. It's 1950 here.
I assume having the refinery nearby helps a bunch lol
This map is pretty good for that sort of thing https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/upshot/2020-election-map.html
Skagit Valley has some surprises. Looks more like Lynden in the north and towns like Napavine, Toledo farther south
Yeah, was surprised to see people mentioning Mt Vernon as particularly conservative. West of the freeway is generally more liberal, East is generally more conservative.
Those deep blue and deep red spots west of the river from Mt Vernon only have like 4 votes each, too.
Mount Vernon is nowhere close to conservative, it’s just surrounded by it.
Someone hasn’t been to Concrete or Darrington. I grew up in Darrington and our shop teacher would bring deer to skin in class, kids would dip in class, and if someone had a hunting rifle or cans of Coors Banquet in their truck, it didn’t matter. The only thing we had to do was drive up the mountains, get drunk, and drive back down. I’m not proud of where I came from lol.
I also just moved to Bothell from Mount Vernon. That place is pretty liberal compared to the surrounding areas like Bow and Sedro. I would go as far to say that the only reason Skagit County was blue was because of the Mount Vernon/Anacortes area.
>The only thing we had to do was drive up the mountains, get drunk, and drive back down
And then go hang out at the Chevron in Arlington on Friday and Saturday nights.

Did you drive a lifted small truck with a DIY paint job and big knobby tires so you could go mudding after school or was that just Sedro-Woolley?
I didn’t drive one, my parents wouldn’t let me do any of that to my Ranger. But there was a time all I wanted was a lifted 2nd gen Toyota. My friends and I would go mudding all the time or ride dirt bikes down the power line roads.
Was looking for Darrington. Anywhere in Whatcom County that isn’t Bellingham too.
Pretty accurate, although Burlington seems a bit mixed
Anything in Lewis County. They’re so far right, they don’t even acknowledge their left hands.
I was gonna say, most people in this thread must have never been to Lewis county.
Grew up in LC, can confirm. Escaped to Seattle as soon as possible to find my people.
Linden is pretty Conservative to a yikes degree.
Bellingham is Liberal, considering it's a college town.
This is just personal experience.
Lynden is crazy conservative. That’s why they had the Trump rally nearby.
Source: Picked raspberries for a summer there
considering it’s a college town?
they’re more likely to be liberal
see Walla Walla in eastern Washington
>see Walla Walla in eastern Washington
Calling Walla Walla a college town is laughable at best compared to places like Pullman, Cheney, Ellensburg, and Bellingham where either a majority or a large percentage of the population (ie like 30-60% of the population) is students. Growing up in a real college town, you notice when all the students leave and when they come back. Plus large public universities bring events to smaller towns like Pullman that wouldn't have happened in a city of the same size without a large university.
It’s a college town for a school that historically is a teacher’s school. Pretty reliably liberal, but the rest of the county can be shockingly conservative.
On Whidbey Island, the southern part of the island around Langley is very liberal, the north part around Oak Harbor, very conservative. Oak Harbor is a Navy town. Culturally, saying you’re from either North or South Whidbey pegs you as liberal or conservative, generally speaking.
And let's not forget Freeland, which was established as a commune lol
Coupeville here, we are a good mix of the two liberal and conservative. Mostly retired military with scattered active duty with a larger civilian pop a good place that accepts all kind of folk.
Yeah, I’d modify my original post by saying there is a mix at both the north and the south end, too, with concentrations of left or right as I originally laid out.
Olympia checking in for most liberal
Yeah, was going to say this!
Y'all forget there is half a state below Olympia. Cowlitz and Wahkiakum County are Joe Kent Country. Yeehaw!
People here seem to have forgotten about SW Washington, aka, the eastern Washington of western Washington. Chehalis, Aberdeen, Longview, Kelso, Elma. That whole area is pretty red with small blue pockets in some cities.
Edit: SW
I think you meant SW.
Totally agree though.
Yep, thanks.
Most conservative is all of Lewis county
Ryderwood, I checked it out once and more half the house had pro trump flags and it's the most I've seen in one place.
Forks, Aberdeen…extremely conservative. Folks that hate environmental conservation yet are mostly out of work due to their lack thereof…
Drove through that area 4 weeks ago. Lots of political signage regarding whether to cut down trees.

Morton
Forks
Battle Ground
Amboy
But, that's just, like, my opinon.
Liberal: Seattle proper, Vashon, Bellingham, Port Townsend Conservative: wasteland between Olympia & Vancouver. Edit: when you pass the I5 billboard comparing Trump to Jeezus you're there.
Lynden is probably the most conservative city in Western Washington.
[deleted]
Conservative hmm Monroe, mount Vernon, Liberal Seattle
I just moved to Bothell from Mount Vernon. It’s a lot more liberal than most people imagine.
Grew up here. Wouldn’t call it Bellingham-level liberal, but still plenty liberal. Lots of “nimby” democrats for sure. The area has gotten alot wealthier in the last 10 years.
That same question about Eastern Washington has one answer. ALL OF IT. I hate living on the east side. There's more ignorance here than at a flat earth society meeting.
Technically more central Washington, but the towns in the Methow Valley are pretty liberal
[deleted]
My usual gas station i stop at in ritzville has a guy that just plays tucker carlson over the speakers every time I’m there lol
I live in Idaho next to Washington, at least in Washington the nutjobs are often outvoted by the more sane people from the westside, here all the stupid fucks get elected
At least they’re more sane than most of Seattle.
Oak Harbor is very conservative, or at least it was when I grew up there. Can't imagine it has changed much.
I love liberals. I haven’t seen Vashon Island on this list. Felt even more liberal and San Francisco than Seattle.
Ya, Vashon is way more liberal than Seattle.
[deleted]
Didn’t Port Angeles or Sequim have that mayor that was like a complete Q Anon believer and declared that their town was independent from the US or something back in 2020?
Sequim. But the locals rebelled and tossed him out.
[deleted]
And be Conservative do you mean, less diverse? And liberal, meaning more diverse?
Ocean Shores
Well rochester has defended their schools and their fire department so there’s that.
